My dida used to mix the rice batter and grated coconut and then pour the mix in shora. Then we would eat the pithe with jhola gur. Been years since Iast ate them. But in winters I miss them just like I miss my childhood. Thank you guys... You brought back a lot of memories.

Bong Eats , can't thank you enough for this perfect visual. Brought back childhood memories. Chitoi pithe was my father's favourite pithe . I have seen him make this with perfection every year not only during poush parbon but almost anytime he had a craving for this . Remember seeing him dip hot chitois in warm milk with jhola gur and have this for breakfast during winter mornings . Baba is no more but it really intrigues me to find how food is so intrinsically interwined with all the fond memories of people whom we loved most . Much love to you two !😍

বাংলাদেশে শীতকালে চিতই পিঠা খুব জনপ্রিয় একটা খাবার। রাস্তার মোড়ে মোড়ে এই পিঠের দোকান বসে। সার্ভ করা হয় সর্ষে ভর্তা, শুটকী ভর্তা, ধনিয়া পাতা ভর্তা আর কালো জীরের ভর্তার সাথে। অনেকেই খুব সকালে এই পিঠাই নাস্তা হিসেবে খায় আর বিকেলে চায়ের সাথে জলখাবার হিসেবে এর কদর এ দেশে অনেক 😍 ভালো লাগলো রেসিপি দেখে

What a visual treat it is😍😍 We call it "Chitou" pitha, here in Odisha, where the batter is prepared with 1:1 ratio of soaked rice, and grated coconut. This pitha is considered auspicious, as it is said to be one of Goddess Lakshmi's favourite, and is prepared mainly during the odia margashish month. Is served with Sugar/ Jaggery on the top,also many of us prefer warm milk,and it tastes heaven.

পৌষ-সংক্রান্তির সন্ধ্যাবেলায় এই পিঠে হতো, তবে নতুন আতপ (বিশেষতঃ গোবিন্দভোগ মিশিয়ে) ব্যবহার হতো। আমি দিদিমার থেকে উপকরণ-প্রণালী একসময় টুকে রেখেছিলাম। গোটা বাড়ি সেই সুগন্ধে ম'ম করতো। মা-দিদিমারা কেউ নেই, বহুদিন বাংলার থেকে দূরে... এই সমসময়ের চাষিদের স্মরণ করে বাংলার গন্ধ যেভাবে এখানে উঠে এলো, উফফ, দারুণ ভালো লাগল। অনেক ভালোবাসা! ❤🙏

If this is difficult then u haven't had daal er pitha. It's not from West Bengal but east bengal ,I'm told. But only few bangals make it nowadays considering how difficult and time consuming it is. My own family has stopped making dal er pithe for a decade now. No 1 even talks about it on top of it, even though it is one of the most ,if not the most delicious pitha. It's immersed in Sheera. And has coconut jaggery fillings. I miss it. I even forgot how it looked in real.😌

In Bangladesh ,we like to enjoy Chitoi Pitha also with Sorshe bata(mustard paste), Coriander leaves' chutney and savory pickles. It tastes amazing! Easily available at every BD street in winter and it's really popular here. Love from Bangladesh

Iam tamilian we prepare a dish named paniyaram in the similar way (we grind rice and mix it with jaggery and pour n cook n same manner ) but the shape is quiet oval (like an egg)
