Being from Portugal originally, I've fished those seas on the long liners for some years. I saw a deck hand once get a swing of the tail of one of those stingrays, the barb buried itself almost 3 inches into the back of his arm. It was hell to remove it, to the point the chap passed out in the galley. The worse that has happened to me in Gran Canaria, was having the toes on my welly boot bitten in half by a big conger eel. Luckily I managed to pull my foot out when I felt its mouth clamping down. Then I understood why I was always told to wear boots two sizes too big. Miss those days dearly, now I live in Peterborough and fish the Wash 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Look forward to more videos when you come back to the UK John. Tight Lines. ☺👍

Those angel sharks look amazing thanks for bringing us along and those bream were fantastic well done fellas real interesting!!!!I use 70lb good quality braid and like Tom don't use a leader either !! Smooth cast every time great for continental rods or heavy rods and no clang throughout the eyes ever time you cast so your mate is spot on great video

If you learn to tie a good leader knot there is no clanging or trouble with the eyes. Braid does not have good abrasion resistance so a mono leader will be better on rough ground.

Those brim we call pinfish for the silver one and grunts for the other one. They normally don't get that big inshore and I used to use them for bait. At that size I'd probably eat them just to see how they taste.

Great video, commentary, and your way you explain how you fish this different location. Good times to fish the islands is November or July which are the months I go to Fuerteventura. Great video.. such a variety of species you caught. That boat that anchored right in front of you, don’t you love them? Reminds me of when I lived in the Country, fishermen gave you plenty of space, I am talking 50-100 yards. When I came to the City to live, fishermen fish right on top of you. A few feet away. When people in boats came just in front of me I cast my line right at them. Hit a few too.

From Hawaii love the channel. Been a fan for years. We have a similar crab to the fast black and red one. It is called Aama crabs here. I think you had one of best baits for fishing in your hands. Just a theory but here we use Aama crabs as bait for certain large predatory fish.

That's the second time two bream of different species were caught more or less at same time...well the first two fish on same hook.... interesting to note!...was it same state of tide etc...... those sting rays are tricky to handle...... One thing we did notice on this trip is how much of a handicap doing all the filming is. I lost 6 fish on this trip because I was messing with cameras/lights or filming Toms fish.

The hairy crab you did show is most likely pilumnis hirtellus in scientific name. Have seen it in Norway to when I have been flipping rocks in the tide pools. 😀🦀

I have been told they are called a Warty Crab by the locals.

Hi Guys, I fish out of El Puerto de Santa María in Cádiz. What you referred to as 'White Bream" looked like what we call "Sargo". Funnily enough, I thought they were "Black Bream" in the UK. What you called "Coach Bream" I think was a "Pargo". I'm really not sure and would appreciate your thoughts?.

There are so many species with many local names. I have heard them all called Sargo before also. 😊👍🏻🎣
