Just two questions: A) Why does nobody reach out to him (from product and engineering) to collaborate on a real masterpiece of macro hardware and software? Are none of these companies doing user research (!?) B) Why does he not finally register the trademark “Macro King” and license it out to those that deem fit? Questions over questions

I don't think the headphones are being held together by the tape. At certain angles, you can see that the tape is compressing that section of the cushion, as you can see his ear through the gap. It's actually not a bad idea for having headphone audio while also having environmental awareness as if you're not wearing headphones. As Taran is all about efficiency, I could see him doing this for that exact reason. Why constantly take your headphones on and off when you can just tape down the front-most section of the cushion to have headphones for audio but not seal off the outside world, especially when you work in an office and have to interact with multiple other people. Taking your headphones on and off might not take that much time, but that time adds up over a workday, just like having a macro for a 2 or 3 key combination saves time, or using better hardware and/or software saves time, especially when the person is concerned about efficiency. Plus the LMG office has an absolute fuckton of headsets for their employees, pretty sure Taran is in the room that was once used for testing various audio setups. There's no reason for Taran to have a headset held together by tape. Logically he's just doing it so he doesn't have to take the headset off when someone is talking to him in person.

@builderman b Nothing in the world of professional video (editing) is that cheap. $500 would be almost a bargain if this thing worked well. The ripple tangent (ball thing) in the video is $350 and it does ONE thing - correct colour. The cheapest full control surface I could find is from Blackmagic - the DaVinci Resolve Micro Panel. It costs over $1000. And only supports 1 piece of software. TL;DR: Video editing stuff is very expensive. $500 would be reasonable if it worked properly.
@exapsy
@exapsy 4 жыл бұрын
To be fair, it's a professional tool that there's no consumer market for it. More demand = Cheaper production = Cheaper price You can buy a whole low end PC for 500 bucks, but all of its parts are massively produced. When this thing that is aimed at professionals, and most likely companies will buy it for you and you wont have to give money from your pocket, is made for a very limited amount of potential customers, thus the prices are reasonably x100 pricier than a massively consumed product. These products are for professionals and they're made for a small audience, they're not for hobbyists. :)

THIS is how you review a product! I am so sick and tired of paid promotions on KZbin where people "review" things, but only say good things, or just a few basic bad things without delving deeper into a product. This is one of few very high quality reviews on the subject, and it's better than 90% of reviews of any other product on KZbin, ever. No matter who by. This is the reason why LTT/LMG is the only company/channel on KZbin I respect. There isn't a single one that offers a similar level of quality. Not even MKBHD, he is biased and reviews things on a surface level. It's looks good and shiny, but no actual content. I won't even start on Austin Evans.

Hello 2023 here. If you're thinking about getting one now there is Alot that has changed. Some good, some the same, some breaking. (now I am exclusively an adobe user heavily Photoshop focused with some after effects and premier pro) TL;DR in advance: overall I think it's a stronger product now and should be considered but in a few scenarios it still falls flat. First the breaking. If you own an ARM product you plan on using with this, skip full stop. Currently on 22h windows 11 (the only time windows 11 is better is on ARM because windows 10 will not emulate x64 programs) In order to use in Adobe it requires a plugin, and right now, it is not being supported on Adobe. This is not loupdecks fault, but after hours of time on support and forums it seems there is no back door or any way to get this to work. I've heard M1 has a better time so maybe that's an avenue for you but look into it first. You cannot even get into creative cloud for plugins at the moment. It just says "something went wrong." Full stop no error code. Again this isn't a loupedeck issue but it will not work on ARM. Second is "what is still janky". Now this has gotten better over time but still PHENOMENALLY SLOW. On desk top where I have 128 gb of ram, have it on a M2. SSD running on a newer Ryzen 5, it's still painfully slow, sometimes locking up completely, taking minutes to unlock, and start working again, and at times borderline unusable. You have to just accept if you need to change anything on it, you are going to have to wait for a long long time. The vibration when nothing is happening, is still there, although I do not find it as annoying as Taran. And the "not able to change colors outside of preset by loupedeck is there and a really big bummer. I would love an active swatch, where on my color selector, it would save my last 9 or so used colors or even better the colors used in this session would be the absolute best. At minimum you should be able to control the colors in the preset for your most used ones but that's not even available. Just the ones given and to switch foreground and background. Now for the positive. The software (although still snail speed) is phenomenally better. Able to set up macros, able to change icons, backgrounds, color code things, the setup is still slightly confusing but much better in explaining what you can do with it. Etc. They have packs for different icons as well as able to add your own, able to download presets and plugins. It's nice and I do like it. The lag has marginally improved although is still not anything close to snappy. Overall things are better but still slow and unresponsive. So ending. Should you get it? I think a used one, if you're willing to put up with the abysmal speed, is actually worth it. I like it personally. After a good minute tho I think it's troubling that it's still having these basic issues this long down the line and find it had to put faith that things will become much better after this long, and not addressing the issues for a device this expensive

Thank you so much for this update, very useful especially for people considering the newer Loupedeck products like the Live S, because I am guessing it uses the same software as the CT (isn't it?). Could you please confirm if the color swatches issue is still persistent, as in I cannot map custom colors to the swacthes in Loupedeck? And cannot activate applications of my choice (unlike the preloaded ones from Adobe suite)?

That's a great review with lots of useful information, at least it was at the time of release. However since then Loupdeck heavily updated their software and most of the complain (like it was not possible to costumise icons or all the Premiere Pro API names confusion) seems like sorted out. I would love to see an updated video review and see how well or not so well the panel control now fit your requirements.

Idk, the software is still a buggy mess. Their original UI actually worked amazing but I guess it wasn’t “sleek” or “bling” enough so they made a whole new UI probably to target streamers and gamers etc (obvious due to the Razer crossover) which actually to this day has BROKEN a ton of features. I went back to an old UI firmware and it works amazing.

I just purchased the CT and Loupedeck has recently done a major overhaul to their software which fixes nearly every complaint mentioned in this video. The new software is responsive and you have way more editing options than in the version of software that was reviewed in this video. If you are considering purchasing the Loupedeck CT then find a newer review video of the item and see how it is a vast improvement from what was reviewed in this video. This particular video really needs to be updated because it is out-of-date.

@altairquten

Check out the Loupedeck Live or Razer Stream Controller, which are more recent siblings of the CT. Content on those will show more up-to-date software. randomfrankp actually highlights some of the changes to when he had last used the Live in his Stream Controller Video. TL;DW: They've improved a lot, but there's still much to add and change. Maybe the Streamdeck+ would be a better pick for most. I also wanted to highlight the fact that you can get nice and cheap MIDI-Controllers for these specific purposes, but that's going to be a bit more hacky and without nice screens to show whatever actions you have programmed.

I have the Surface Dial. It's quite bad with customization. It's from Microsoft , so you can bind only things that Windows does such as key combine (from a list , not from what you press , so not that freedom) Scroll , back , forward , zoom etc. which is some basic things that may useless if you're familiar with basic keyboard shortcuts. It's almost useless for me because I have MX2 mouse with can do everything the dial can. The dial is very satisfy when you use it to scroll on Premier pro timeline though. In conclusion, Surface Dial has no direct API to very limited program .Therefore, logitech craft has access to the API more than the Dial

@@TaranVH Hey Taran! Love your macro vids! I'm not sure where to find a lot of useful info on com objs regarding photoshop, I remember spending days searching on it, but I made a script explaining how to get commands from photoshop and converting to work in ahk. First thing needed is the Script Listener plugin, which can be downloaded from adobe: helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/downloadable-plugins-and-content.html The plugin will register everything you do on photoshop and output the code to a text file in your desktop. I use the javascript output code. There's also a lot of useful info on photoshop's api in there. Next is the ahk script: github.com/Hyzalker/PSComObj/blob/master/COM%20obj%20photoshop.ahk Ctrl+1 calls an action by name, Ctrl+2 sets the brush size to whatever you choose and Ctrl+3 changes the current brush tool. In this script I pasted the code I got from the script listener plugin and explained in commentary what I changed to make it work with ahk. Following that logic you can convert pretty much any command you can do in photoshop to ahk. Btw I'm not very good at coding, so I can't explain in detail how COM objects work. I just know it works and that's enough for me xD
