Now don't put me in the Book for this, but wait a minute- is this why there's so much Knife-ear hatred? Dwarves are cool, but there's some serious propaganda against Elven culture. That's a disturbingly accurate if slightly reductionist summary of what is happening. It would be bad enough if it was really just plain old run of the mill communism, but today, they do Race Communism and that is a racial genocidal movement rather than one that culls the educated from the population so they are easier to control. When the movement is all about ME and my family being dead, I have no choice but to oppose it with every fiber of my being. I could potentially be convinced to accept Marxist rule, but not this. This is insane and has to be fought against with everything we have.... not just to save the American cultural dream but to literally prevent genocide and world war.

Which is especially funny once you consider that the average male friendship will usually be deeper and more genuine than female ones. Talk with women and you'll soon realize most still look over their shoulders for potential backstabs when it comes to their female friends. When they often say how they prefer male friends that is why.

It's not just about infantilizing women. It's also about disrupting traditional pair bonding and family structure. So they infantilize women and demonize men. One of my most traumatic experiences was when a trans woman tried to rape me when I was 15. She'd always wait for me to finish my extracurricular english classes at about 20:00/21:00 and kept following me, once she jumped into the same bus as me (Which was empty) and sat right next to me and stroked my thigh... wtf I immediately asked for a stop and took another bus while running to another bus stop with more people. After that, I started carrying a box cutter on me and... I felt a little safer. Fast forward 2 months and she just stops with her car next to me when I was on one of the most desolate roads and as soon as I saw her, I bolted. I tripped after a dozen meters and she pounced on me and tried removing my jacket, I managed to wiggle my arm free and extend the box cutter a little, after which she punched me in the face and tried holding my arm down... The retard actually impaled herself on the blade when using her body to hold me down and just started running back to her car when I tried to stab her again. I filed a report to the police, but they never found her, I now have a scar on the back of my head from when she punched my head into the cracked concrete sidewalk. Sometimes, I wish I could have gone back in time and fixed that incident, maybe I'd have taken a better look at her or her car, maybe threatened her instead of fleeing or even stabbed her in the leg or the neck. I just wish nobody else encounters her. Hilarious how people say that, if a girl gets fucked before 18 by a man, it's paedophilia, but when a boy gets fucked before 18 by a woman, it's "luck". I certainly did not feel lucky and now I have a "fetish" for knives because of this incident and refuse to leave my house without one.

One of the most infuriating things about the left in media is them staking claims to characters and then strong arming writers into capitulating to their retcon. They'll pick up on the smallest most insignificant details, like a chick having short hair or a guy dressing well (notice they have no problem using stereotypes in this manner) to claim a character is "coded gay", and then attack the writer until they back down and make them being gay canon. And they always follow their Tolerance->Acceptance->Celebration->Submission model. It will always start with "why can't you just accept a fanfic writer writing so and so gay/brown/trans? What harm does it do you?", but the end goal is *always* "So and so was always meant to be gay/brown/trans and you're a bigot if you don't cheer for it"

My grandfather was a professor of English here in Canada (Ottawa U) who retired completely despising his profession and academia. One of the best lines I remember him saying was at a barbeque with a bunch of his previous students and peers (and me because I was 15 and loved hot dogs). It was on the topic of the evolution of the word "violence" within public discourse. I'm going to paraphrase and likely butcher it, but you get the idea: "The world seems filled with failed English majors attempting to re-interpret reality as they see fit because they are not capable of producing their own ideas or honestly engaging with things that they disagree with. Authorial intent means nothing and only they hold the key to the true meaning of all things." It was something like that but I think he swore a lot more.

I grew up with 2 languages. Picked up a few more along the way. What these "intellectuals" don't understand is that words are created to carry a specific meaning. Snow is different from rain, even though they are both precipitation. By using one word instead of another, you convey a whole different context to what's going on. So to throw out the meanings of words like man, woman, racist, articulate, merit, etc. They are engineering a generation of stupidity and hubris. They will create adults that look you in the eye, confidently speak gibberish, and scoff at you for not understanding the message they in no way conveyed.

To my family, friends, and let's face it, people who aren’t mentally deficient, I’m making sure my abuela or an older woman is understanding what I’m saying. I'm mostly black, but about 1/4 Puerto Rican and 10-15% white. I'm tan skinned with curly black hair. Hispanics can tell pretty much immediately that I'm part Latino with most guessing Dominican or Puerto Rican (the latter of course being correct). That being said, I grew up around upper middle class white kids and don't speak with even a hint of ebonics. And while I do speak Spanish somewhat fluently, I am not a native speaker and didn't learn until I was 11 or 12. My dad, who my Latino blood comes from, doesn't speak Spanish at all since he didn't learn it growing up either. Both my parents speak with a slight tinge of ebonics, but neither sounds like they're from the hood. My mom sounds more like she's from the south than anything else (she's from the Midwest while her family is from Mississippi). My dad probably does too since he grew up in central Virginia. I just sound like a suburban white kid with mild autism. I speak very formally most of the time, my extended family says I speak the Queen's English. All this us to say that I am not really culturally or politically black or Latino. Doubly so when lefties learn my political beliefs (to give an idea, among the current crop of candidates, the one I resonate the most with is Vivek Ramaswamy. That is to say more conservative ) It's already common knowledge that dark skinned blacks often resent light or tan skinned blacks, especially if they're mixed at all. So I've been singled out and picked on by other blacks for not being black enough on multiple occasions. And then they wonder why we have no broader allegiance to the black community at large beyond our own families and friends (also because the black community is a dumpster fire of dysfunction and pretending otherwise doesn't help anyone), and why black men especially date outside their race so often.

Precisely! That's inherent in the purpose of the age of consent - it's the point at which one is supposed to be able to decide for themselves. Metaphorically: They're arguing to tear down a fence without even knowing why it's there in the first place. The taboo isn't because they look young, it's because their minds aren't developed and they can suffer immensely for it. Yes, if a 19 years old female friend says she's going on a one night stand with a 30 something guy, I'm gonna say this is real sketchy and unwise. Doesn't mean it's pedophilia or inherently abusive. The risk may be greater but that doesn't determine by itself the morality of the action.

@@ohwnosrepeht Your assessment of my argument is inaccurate. It's not "whataboutery". It's quite relevant to point out right-wing media uses similar tactics since the point is this isn't exclusively left-wing phenomena. So if it's not exclusive to left-wing media then why are you slapping the label "left-wing" on it? It's like calling chicken-eaters "lefties" despite the fact many right-wing and left-wing people eat chicken. I don't think you're arguing against left-wing media in good faith and merely want to push your narrative of what "left-wing media" is... which is apparently only Jezebel. The following argument I made isn't circular. I made careful choices in the words I wrote- I said "almost certainly" and "likely", meaning there are potentially other reasons for your disagreement. Even disregarding that- making an if, then statement is not in of itself circular reasoning. "IF you're making emotional, irrational arguments THEN you're making emotional, irrational arguments" If A is A, then A is A. As mentioned previously, there are MULTIPLE examples of right-wing media being emotionally, irrationally driven not caring about the original author's intent, not caring about xyz's truth, but merely trying to push their own propaganda. Many right wingers (like you I'm assuming) presumably watch and agree with said claims since we see them defending and parroting their owner's talking points online. THEREFORE, if you ignore that, as far as I can tell you yourself are being emotionally, irrationally driven and not being logical. Even if it were true that my argument were fallacious that does not necessarily dismiss everything I've said. For instance- maybe I unintentionally used a fallacious argument to argue for the fact we need water in order to survive... that doesn't negate the fact we need water to survive. Cool strawman and using big grown-up words to make yourself sound smart homie. To be honest, I felt this way as soon as "young adult" fiction came along. I found myself thinking, what the hell is a young adult? Do you mean a teenager? I guess that was the thin end of the wedge when it comes to the infantilization of the West.
@Aubreykun

@@NicholasBrakespear "YA fiction" is really for around 14-23 year olds, skewing in the lower end of that. It used to skew more in the middle in the older books - The _A Wrinkle In Time_ series has some pretty insane stuff in it, for example. Outside of fiction, "young adult" typically means 18-25 (sometimes slightly higher, up to 27, and sometimes as low as 16 - depends on the location and context). This consists primarily of people in college, apprenticeships, interns, and early-career hops. It's also - traditionally, as this has fallen apart somewhat - normally around when people marry. The dividing line is partly cultural. Think those "all my friends are working/have kids/etc" memes that go around now, those are for people who have passed out of the "young adult" stage.

It basically boils down to "what can I use as a weapon to browbeat you into giving me more power"? Like there was a recent story about some French activist getting thrown out of an anime con for harassing Akamatsu Ken over his stance that manga artist's freedom of expression should be protected, specifically calling him a paedo, but if you looked at her previous Tweets you would see her actively defending Cuties. Also speaking of Akamatsu-sensei, he is a case where the reaction to his works would show the double standard because especially in Negima (where the primary setting/cast are middle schoolers) he would tend to draw a lot of characters as looking/acting way older than they actually canonically were (to the extent that if you picked up random manga chapters focusing on those characters you might assume that they were high school or maybe even college students) yet I doubt people afford them the same standard and say, "It's fine because they're adult coded." Twitter has proven to be a good tool for getting companies to actually pay attention to you when you can't get customer service to do so, which is an absolute godsend for that purpose! Unfortunately, it also makes them listen to the screaming minority instead of understanding that's exactly who they are - a vocal minority, who will never be happy, no matter what the company does.

@@kateshiningdeer3334 "Twitter is only a tool. It's how that tool is USED that is the problem" No, if you actually examine the nature of that "tool", it becomes apparent that its basic communication patterns are anathema to civil discourse and a healthy society. To put it in very simple terms, a traditional forum-style approach to social interactions on the internet may not be perfect, but is fundamentally a lot healthier because it is a clearly-defined topic-focused narrative, in which the original post becomes less and less relevant the more communication happens. With Twitter, the communication pattern is... more like a series of bullet holes; brief impacts, designed to grab attention almost by definition. The subsequent response isn't a clearly-defined linear narrative, reducing the actual individual significance of the original post with every subsequent post; it's a branching pattern like cracks in a mirror, where the original post's significance is actually amplified the more people interact with it, devoid of any larger context, and the mass of replies and quotes all operate in a more independent manner rather than becoming part of the clearly-defined ongoing narrative. Essentially, Twitter's fundamental communication pattern amplifies and encourages the worst behaviours, and exaggerates - by design - the worst aspects of knee-jerk, out of context reaction, and the biggest egos. It teaches people not to work as one, not to come together for the purposes of drawing attention to something in a natural way, but to seek the elevation of individual voices at all times. It is a terrible, terrible tool, and has done almost irreparable damage to the Western world.

Pretty much every black stereotype you know (knocking up liquor stores, pants hanging down below the ass, graffiti, pointing guns sideways...) are tropes that Baltimorons of _every_ color dabble in. What most people don't get is that the "thug life" thing isn't a racial culture at all, but a _convict_ culture. It's a sort of battle-hardened "coolness" that the weak are especially susceptible to due to the demonization of veterans post-War-on-Terror (and post-Vietnam in the 90's) and thus there are no genuinely positive examples of emotional and physical sturdiness and dignity for the young with such potential for positive strength to model themselves after. As someone who has spent extended periods of time living in (not visiting) other cultures and speaking other languages, code-switching isn't just natural, it's necessary. It goes well beyond the old context of switching your mode of thought with language. It includes how you stand near people, the amount and type of hand movement, posture, tone of voice, enunciation, the kind of jokes you tell, the idioms you use, the order you speak in groups; You basically shift the entire paradigm of how you communicate, not because you're imitating or 'appropriating' another 'code', but because that's how you make yourself understood with the most clarity. Even switching contexts within the same language inside the same culture will force alterations to most if not all of these same considerations. As a Marine, I did not speak with my peers in rank the same way I did my NCOs. I didn't speak to my roommate, who outranked me, the same way I spoke to other people of his rank. Even the difference between speaking to an NCO I work directly with, and an NCO from another unit; or speaking to the same NCO in-uniform and out-of-uniform, required a shift in how I communicated. So yeah, if I'm taking the effort and doing others the courtesy to alter my communication style between sub-groups of one culture and language, then if I'm living in Jamaica, for example, for an extended period of time, you bet I'm going to go out of my way to 'code' my communication to better match with the people I'm working with. That will mean picking up their vocabulary, enunciation, posture, hand gestures, speaking cadence, and even elements of their accent, if not outright adopting their mannerisms wholesale, because that's going to make communication easier for them and for me. The alternative is looking like the stereotypical Arrogant American, constantly speaking in my generic non-regional American accent and expecting everyone else to understand the subtleties of my communication while not accommodating any of theirs. And I don't know about you, but.... that seems a lot more insensitive in my book.

You want to know what's worse about these people who froth at the mouth over 'minor coded' characters? They'll actually report that sort of thing to the FBI, and when a victim of childhood exploitation comes forward in response to accusations of pedophilia, they'll actually say the victim deserved it. They care more about 'minor-coded' fictional characters than they do real life victims.
@Aubreykun
@Aubreykun Жыл бұрын
From what I found in digging, it's not about individual victims to them but a paranoia about rooting out "cryptopedos" (seen a few use this word, not that many) that are hiding in their circles. There's no real objective way to find anyone like that, so all the criteria they look for is circumstantial and based entirely on how "sus" it makes the person. And if someone actually harms a child or admits they have such desires, that's moreso regarded as just "hard proof" of a bad person being found out. It's essentially an irl application of the trolley problem combined with "send 9 innocent men to jail in order to catch the 1 criminal" corruption of justice. They would gladly have 1 person sacrificed (in some cases these are minors themselves doing this as activism...) to "keep an abuser from being able to make more victims" or something The reason it's common in fanart/fanfic circles is probably because of a misunderstanding of the "don't kinkshame" etiquette - where instead of it being a a golden rule situation, it was misinterpreted to where kinks became equivalent to sexuality/identity, rather than an interest, and so meant it was a protected characteristic. Then you had people who were _actual_ pedophiles self-rationalizing and not getting help, the awful "MAP" thing, and it became this paranoia about secret abusers hiding. This in turn leads people who have not harmed someone but are having mental crises to not go get help, as if it leaked out that they went to go do that they would lose all their social support and contacts, and then to push very hard against anything that would be regarded as "sus" to try to keep eyes off them.

Their rationale (however flawed) is basically "It's not happening, but if it _were_ happening, it's a good thing and you shouldn't complain either way; if it's not happening, you get what you want, but if it _is_ happening, you should be supporting it." All the while, they're actively encouraging it and trying to make it happen, whilst denouncing those that would be against it as some form of -ist, -ism, or -phobe. Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

@@SkylineFTW97 Ya know, that term has always annoyed me to a certain extent, because I'm one of those people who can have contrary viewpoints in my head at the same time and ponder them both from multiple perspectives. The best quote I found on it was talking about Torah Interpretation, and said "Two Jews, Three Opinions." That describes me perfectly, LOL. I can see things from many perspectives (which is a gift, IMO) and still have my own opinions, which are often a mix of the best of both sides. (Because I tend to be a thinker, not an ideologue.)

The thing with the minor coding is a hard one for me. There is a woman who had some reality show because she has some condition that makes her look like an actual child even though she’s at least late 20’s. She has a normal man as a boyfriend and it’s like she deserves love like anyone but like come on man her BF is mega sus.

If it’s the one who I’m thinking then the only “childlike” feature she has is her height. You can tell she’s an adult when you look at her up close. So nothing sus really. Edit: and her voice is kinda weird. It’s high pitched but there’s an element to it that makes it sound... I dunno how to describe it even.

I mean that's different, there are rare medical conditions that cause a person to never physically mature and thus look like a child, and it will always be a grey area. But that's not what people mean when they say minor coded, they literally just mean someone (usually a woman) who is short and/or petite, or even just thin and not curvaceous. Children are small, so if you are attracted to someone on the shorter side it's sus, prepubescent girls don't have chests, so being attracted to women with flat chests is sus, etc. Some people say even liking shaved pubic areas makes you a pedo since 'only kids don't have hair down there'.
@RyuuRider
@RyuuRider Жыл бұрын
What makes pedos evil are their manipulation of individuals who lack the mental development and life experience of a typical adult (and the devastating effects of it on the youth). Someone who looks like a child despite being at their peak of maturity is entirely out of their control; they are still capable of self-reliance and choosing for themselves as an adult, so there's not much to feel sus about. It would be quite different if that condition included childlike mental development. Understanding the reason for the taboo helps in these situations.

It's kinda funny coming across the portion about age gaps after I just asked out my friend's sister last night, who happens to be 18 while I am 28. I never knew her before she was 18, and I am not specifically attracted to her because she's 18 or because our ages are so far apart, but I have been concerned that weirdos with malicious imaginations would accuse me of being a pedo or a cradle robber just because I am dating a fully grown woman who happens to be younger than me by several years.

@@internetzenmaster8952 LOL, I think for me, "jailbait" was always people of uncertain age - Are they legal, or are they not? And when they were willing to lie to you about it, it was ALWAYS dodgy. That's why actual age-gap laws exist in some states. Because 18-21 is only a 3-year gap, but also a jail term if things go wrong! "Legal Loli", as I understand it, is people who are adults (again, 18 to 21, depending on the state) dressing deliberately younger to attract people who like younger people. Seems like there was a case where an older woman (I think maybe like 25?) was making videos where she looked 16-17, and there was some serious concern if her videos counted as actual child pornography, because that was certainly the intent.
