Before we even had the word for capitalism, hierarchies have always existed because complex societies with specialized forms of labor will often result in stratification due to how important those roles are viewed, the wealth it generates, how much land they own, and how close they are to positions of leadership in the government or religion of the society. I remember In a high school government class Watching a documentary by an optical surgeon who did cataract removals. She wanted to get an understanding of life inside of North Korea and so convinced the government to fly her out so that she could perform cataract surgery on a bunch of folks who suffered from them. At the end of the documentary she put up a compilation of everybody who had been cured of the cataracts thanking the dear leader and not even acknowledging the woman who did any work for them. I remember In a high school government class Watching a documentary by an optical surgeon who did cataract removals. She wanted to get an understanding of life inside of North Korea and so convinced the government to fly her out so that she could perform cataract surgery on a bunch of folks who suffered from them. At the end of the documentary she put up a compilation of everybody who had been cured of the cataracts thanking the dear leader and not even acknowledging the woman who did any work for them. Nothing get me more irritated with Hasan than when one of the friends are hanging out with him and they have the opposite response to something and his immediate reaction is to emotionally bully them and gaslight them. This isn't some 10 minute surgery that can be performed easily, ignoring consultations prior the surgery itself is closer to 30 minutes. Every single person needs to have a custom artifical lens made. Then that's on top of all the other inherent costs associated with open surgery. Whole sale, even getting lasik is gonna run you almost 2k an eye here in jacksonville. I was irked at first by Mr Beast because making a career of being charitable and filming it seems disingenuous like all those other clickbait youtubers but I can't deny he's doing good and the fault really only applies if it turns out Mr Beast doesn't care about the doing good part of the philanthropy and only the profiting from it, which you can't actually determine unless there's some serious BTS leaks or if you know Jimmy personally. He also just makes general spectacles that aren't centred around the philanthropy but the event itself. The other part of the irk is that it exposed how I myself am not being charitable enough.
