I remember they also used to include 珍珠豆which is pretty hard to source nowadays so hawkers just omitted it.

Totally agreed on not adding tofu.. It's meaningless plus it dilute the soup. It used to be a very clear soup as well.. Nowadays it's like bcm soup.

Tofu cheap mah. They reduce ingredients need to top up with something cheaper to make the soup look full of ingredients.

Hi Mr Leow, I deeply enjoyed the interesting fact about the pig blood history + the herb. Pls do more of such! The ingredients and history of dishes. It really adds an angle that most foodie channels in SG don't have - most channels don't know about the ingredients and how it affects the taste.. they only say nice/not nice..

@thulomanchay Personally, I think is great so that when I travel elsewhere like Malaysia or Thailand, I may get the chance to taste the so call original taste n decide I prefer the original taste. If so, I may try to cook the original recipe if I can find all the ingredients if I happen to be in country which sell all the ingredients. Key point is about more options

@thulomanchay like he said, if u want to know what it taste like, just travel up north to malaysia and you find it, it's probably even cheaper by 3.3 times too.

I doubt so. I mean, it’ll taste nice but it’ll be a mushroom flavour and not have that pig blood sweetness

Pig blood and lung, my two favourite ingredients in the dish are missing, that’s my biggest disappointment in this dish. 😢I grew up in Tiong Bahru, obviously you know which stall I mean
