It actually looks silly. There's no reason for 4 holes in the front of the handle. Tacticool. So are most Tops. At least tops are more original.

dirtime well I agree that the lashing holes on such a large knife may not be necessary. You are wrong about TOPS though they are functional first & foremost. Cheers 🍻

Like the GCK. Would like to see a field knife version. More survival function first and combat second . It would have more belly on the upsweep like the gerber strong arm. Really good designs. Buck is definitely upping their game.

Middle blade is nice and that top blade would be one I would buy but I will not buy serrated blades. I don't get it with serrations. They are hard to deal with when needing sharpening. Straight edge is so much easier and convenient.

They might do different blade edge options. The market will speak and at the end of the day, a straight edge is one less step for them.

the thing is most people in the military that actually use knives extensively in combat tend to have rather limited budgets that these knives would sort of not be possible under , think like $20-50 range max ( also stuff gets lost, stolen or left behind a lot )

Like the Cold Steel SRK. Good knife and only runs about $30-$40. The Navy issues them during BUDS for field/divers knifes. They hold up too, made of SK5 steel. That’s where the SOG Seal Pup design came from.

Looks like buck missed the bar again. Being able to slash and stab to meet the unique situation is important. The chopper could have been an excellent outdoor tool without the massively cheesy saw back and sarations near the grip. It would have been beater with a wider grind for chopping and a couple inches of fine edge towards the grip for precision notching and carving.

I actually find their 420 hc steel on the folders to be actually pretty good (is hard enough to keep a decent edge, and can be sharpened easily enough). Granted, something better for their larger knives is a plus.

The sheath is bulky and overall just sucks, the "grip points" are more narrow for batoning, they actually offer less surface area if anything. And the blade steel isn't that great. Id probably prefer my strong arm over them, yet I still want the tan tanto version.... i guess we'll see how it works
@Chivalrous4204 жыл бұрын
you like 420HC over 5160? why?
@squiggy96064 жыл бұрын
5160 is one of the toughest steels around and has comparable edge retention to 420hc. Check out this link for a great comparison of the properties of commonly used knife steels. knifesteelnerds.com/2020/06/15/what-is-the-best-budget-knife-steel/
