So speaking of Jerry M. I watched him reloading a shotgun.he did flip the gun up on his shoulder.but he extended his arm along the barrel and then shoved three shells in at a time. John you almost got it right but you had your hand up on the handle if you could stand your arm below the barrel and gives you more stability on holding the gun while loading. Putting three shells in at a time is something you're going to have to master

There are definitely more intuitive shotgun reloading techniques. You wanna keep reloading techniques simple and intuitive. When your adrenaline's rushing, you wanna avoid any complicated reloads that take lots of thinking and manual dexterity.

I agree with the people saying this has become too complicated. I just turn mine slightly sideways and shove them in there from a belt with the trigger hand. Rarely fumble. I think it’s most important to be close to firing at any point since attack’s don’t let you reload.

Shotguns are great home defense firearms, especially in states with restrictive gun laws and a anti-gun culture. A "good"self defense shoot with an AR15 by a law abiding citizen can be manipulated by politically motivated prosecutors and media with an agenda. A pump action shotgun with well thought out accessories, good defensive ammo, along with a home defender that trains and practices can dominate. Meanwhile public perception of a shotgun user is Elmer Fudd, that image is much harder to manipulate into something negative by those with an anti-gun agenda. Great drill.

Elmer Fudd no longer has his shotgun. The Anti-gunners pressured Warner Brothers to change his weapon to a scythe which is far more intimidating and a nasty tool to use and obviously makes no sense as a hunting weapon. Of course bugs bunny still uses explosives to get Elmer Fudd several times but that’s Ok because American gun owners don’t use explosives only terrorist do.

@@papimaximus95 You ignored the point, which was stated in the opening sentence of my post. Anti-gun politically motivated prosecutors in states that have a weak or anti gun culture. I live in New Jersey, where prosecutors tried to imprison a retired schoolteacher for having a empty flintlock handgun in his glove compartment during a traffic stop. Earlier this year police arrested and charged a Marine Corps veteran for having a 30 round M16 magazine in his old military footlocker. He didn't own any firearms that would take a magazine it'was old gear he had from when he was active duty. His ex-wife reported it. Here police regularly violate the law by taking over 30 days to approve pistol purchase permit without suffering any consequences Trusting the prosecutors from the same government to not be politically motivated if a AR15 is used in a self defense shooting could be a dangerous. That's why I have shotguns staged for home defense.

LOL. I pheasant hunt with my tactical 870 with a vortex AUG UH1 holographic optic, and my 1301 tactical with an eotech exps2 holographic optic. It’s better ready, shoot, reload, shoot, awareness training than targets on a range.

I'm a lefty and the cross bolt safety on my 870 marine magnum works perfect for me but I grew up with this safety system. Picked up my buddies 590 a1 and it felt so weird with the safety up top but with training I'm sure it would be fast. Also my benelli m4 has a pistol grip which would not work with the mossberg safety on top.

Get a 590 retro for me. I had it in my hands but decided to come back in the morning because the shop was closing and I was a little tired. It was gone first thing in the morning. I ended up getting a cheap shotgun that I really like but that 590 retro is nice.

Observation: On your semi-auto shotgun, you loaded four rounds, ran the gun dry, reloaded, and finished the drill. With the pump shotgun, it was fully loaded, shot, then reloaded the final rounds needed to complete the drill. *Question*: Is this the proper way to run this drill, semi-auto gets four rounds total, while pump gun gets fully loaded? **Example**: I run a Mossberg 590A1 (8+1) at both home and work. Meaning, I have 9 rounds in the gun at the start and only have to load one round from my side saddle. Using my Mossberg 590A1 (8+1), what is the recommended way to start the Casino Drill and what is the par time?
@ASPextra
@ASPextra 3 жыл бұрын
No like we said since the pump gun had no extra ammo on shell carriers we evened the odds by loading it full.

It's 3:00am, you're in your t-shirt and boxers (if that) and someone is in your home. Is anyone going to have a "dump pouch" when they grab their shotty? It'll be whatever is on the gun, most likely what's in the gun, since single shell loading from a side saddle is probably more fantasy than reality under adrenaline dump stress.
@ASPextra
@ASPextra 2 жыл бұрын
And the chance of going through the 8 rounds in my defensive shotgun, plus the match saverz shell, and then having the time to load from the side saddle and subsequently use that ammo is...nil.

@@ASPextra Agreed, which makes the emphasis on reloading in all shotgun training mute. When I took my AZ CCW cert class they offered a 4 hour pistol class as an option, however you had to have a pistol since mag change was an integral part of the "training". I own pistols for fun and the inevitable Zombie Apocalypse, but I carry a revolver, so they wouldn't let me take the training. No loss, done enough gun classes at Scottsdale Gun Club to realize you get what you pay for, which is mostly nothing. However the focus should be firing from low ready or draw, split time and minute of person accuracy within 5 yards. That class I'd pay for.

Best shotguns the mossy Persuaders w Classic m4 style shotgun stocks, take the shell holder off the stock side mount velco , medium slip on Walmart limbsaver, drill 1 hole near the bottom and ziptie far better than any SGA🤣for speed cqb w stock full collapsed your grip is away from your face, off shoulder or chest the POA is fast and dead on, heatshield and light, also cut pool noodle/pipe insulation in half zip/tape makes a great cheek rest
