These tow contracts usually stipulate a 24hr tow notice, or else a tenant could lose their car for simply having their plates stolen or forgetting to put their parking permit in their window. If you call around to rental property management offices, you will not find one that would tow this man's vehicle without a 24hr notice or prior warnings or violations.

Law enforcement has developed a culture of treating the citizens as the enemy which must be persecuted and victimised irrespective of whether they have committed a crime or not. Did any of them think that one day they would have pushed the people too far with their corruption and criminality against them and at that point what might happen next. If not, then I would suggest that now would be a good time to think upon that possiblity as it is better to be late than never. The repercussions of an uprising of the people against an unjust and criminal establishment will not be pretty.

My partner was in exempt management for a city in the late 2000's; she was sent to the training meetings for cop management (she was supposed to be a liaison to all departments at her city) and she witnessed the officers being TRAINED that the citizens are the enemy.

Sadly we have a large part of the political spectrum that only see's a problem with the behavior on display here when it happens to them or someone they know personally. They also vote for people that advocate for this type of behavior to happen, again as long as its happening to 'other' people. @@letstalknfl They can determine the last registered owner of the vehicle using the VIN number, even if the vehicle is not currently legally registered. Therefore they have access to the last known address of the owner. They could have simply walked 30 feet and knocked on the door, to tell the owner "We, using the plain-view doctrine, saw ________ item in your vehicle and need to enter it for search". Using a slim-jim randomly like that is illegal search and seizure, I think, and also note the officer did NOT say, "We saw such-and-such inside your vehicle so that gave us probable cause to search"--they just did it. I think that whole thing was a fishing expedition cut short by the crowd showing up.

You are absolutely correct. He's there for "shots fired" and not escalating with the owner of the car. He wasn't concerned at all that this owner may have been the person who fired the shots?!?!

I think that whole "shots fired" was nonsense to justify them being there in the first place. If they truly WERE investigating a shots-fired, then when that owner came out of his residence I'm fairly certain those cops would have been on high alert--they didn't ACT like they feared an armed assailant. They actually acted like little kids caught with their hands in the cookie jar. Yours is a very good question.

I live in this area at a complex owned by the same company Mickinley. There is an agreement for no plates or expired plates getting towed....... However there is a tow company that trolls daily checking the properties, they put a notice on and give you a few weeks. I've never seen the cops come in and do this.

Why would I ever tell a cop I'm going to sue him? If he doesn't know it's coming, he might not remember to destroy the evidence; simply not uploading a bodycam is a lot easier to explain away than uploading, then later logging in to delete the footage after you get sued.

No one has the right just to tow a vehicle. No law states you have to have every vehicle owned registered. Cities/state make unconstitutional policies and enforcement them on citizens to extort.

2 thoughts. 1) "You need to learn your place! You are the public which is beneath that of LEOs! Yes Ik ow not all LEOs act this way, but too many do. 2) Make failure to relinquish your rights at the demand of a LEO, the cause of the process being the punishment. IE, "we'll make you wish you had!". Sad, very sad. Fortunately the citizens of these United States have begun to be "a-woke-en" to what is going on. You hear frequently, "Comply now, complain later!" So, how do you regain your status after your rights have been violated? Suppose you are vindicated, get a paper saying you are right. Which we know is not a certainty. And if you do, and get a $ settlement. You are still someone whose rights were violated! How do you reverse that?

I know this for sure, not having a plate on the vehicle or not having it registered is not a criminal offense, it's not on the street being driven, so there is no lawful order for ID. Props to that community for standing up to this tyrant

Don't leave your doors unlocked! I'm not clear on how he can tow it if it is parked on private property. The plate is only required when it is taken on a public road. Best to keep a trip permit on it anyway.
