A great example of appropriate engineering. Works perfectly, and no more expensive or more complicated than it needs to be. Saved enough on this to buy a commercial roll crimper. Let's pray that these will just be for fun. and not a new civil war. And pray for our president Trump, and for the United States of America. Thanks for sharing a great idea...

Keeping it simple. This is great. Heading to Home Depot right now..... This also facilitates my effort to make minishells. Cut the hull trimmer to a length to cut the shot shell to 1 3/4". This idea will give me a cleaner, straighter cut on the shell. You will have to raise the shell to crimp for shot. For Slug, I raise the shell just high enough to start the crimp holding the slug in place. Thanks for the insight........ Nothing like making your own tools. God Bless our Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, Coasties, Marines, Law Enforcement and First Responders. Soldier Up!!!!!!!!!!!!

Heeeeeyyuseyy Jolly Peanut. I am so excited man. I was inspired by your video brother. So this is what I did. I decided to use PVC pipe because I don't have the industrial tools and I live in an apartment. think somebody did the same thing as posted in the replies. I used 3/4" x 2' PVC, cut it to the length needed for reloading mini shells using a band saw at work. Wrapped the PVC with painters tape to prevent saw chipping at the cut site.. The shot shells slide perfectly into the 3/4" pipe up to the primer base. I Dremmeled it out so that the primer base slides into the PVC. Cut length's of 2 1/2", 1 1/2" and 1" sleeves. I tell you. These shells are looking A LOT prettier than my previous attempts. Pretty proud to show people my shells at the range now. Wish I could attach pictures of the final produt to this comment. Thanks again for your post.......

If you do then don't cut like in this video. Cutting out the crimped tabs inside the top of the shell instead means that once the wax sets the small lip will stop it sliding out as the wax warms up in use. Either that or hot glue a cardboard cap to seal in the wax slug.

He probably does a roll crimp. Many CAS-shooters do this to get rid of the star crimp that gets the fired shell stuck in the chamber cone, so they can chuck the shells and reload fast. I do this but it gets tiring after a few hundred. I think i'm gonna try building a jig mounted to a paper giljotine and speed up the process.

It's possible to put an overshot card on top of the load of shot. If it's sized correctly, it'll stay on its own, but most people will add glue, wax, or fingernail polish on top of the overshot card to help hold it in place, especially if they expect their shells to get jostled either while being carried around in the field or under recoil in a gun that holds multiple shots. What I don't get is why he's doing the trimming at this stage and dumping shot out of a perfectly good, factory loaded shell. Why not shoot the shell as is, then trim it before you reload it?

Don't know exact size but what i used is for electrical conduit not sure if it's all the same size..... I would just carry a 12GA cartridge and test it in pipe....Works great, i am going to do same for 410..

Are you serious? If we try that here we'd have the cops, tactical response group, fire brigade....Not to mention that they would have to give counseling to all staff at the hardware store... 12G measures 20.64mm or .812"

haha where do you live New York ? I just had some conduit laying around & it fit just right. Where i live it's kinda normal to pull some loose ammo out your pockets with loose change at the check-out especially during hunting season...Good luck Bro

At least you can still have some firearm's if you don't want to loose them fight to keep them by voting for the right people & joining & supporting the NRA or pro gun group's like them..Good luck Bro

Why not just use an actual tubing wheel cutter? It’s simple, cuts straight, and you only need a little chamfering after you cut.

Used what i had at the time yeah tube cutter would be good or chop saw or a lathe would be awesome but i don't have one of those either.

@@johannesvanhoek9080 I think most people would use a hacksaw. Not everyone has an angle grinder.

Great idea. Just one point about technique: it would be jsut as easy and much safer to cut away from your thumb.

Nothing new under the Moon. But my question is why did you trim the new, never shot shells? What was the reason for this monkey job? Don't take me wrong, but the time to do it is when you want to reload the used on.

This is the cheapest quickest way to make SLUGS ..Using pre shot shells takes reloading equipment primers powder wadding solid slugs money and much more time....Making Waxers like this is a great way to go if money or slug ammo is in short supply & they are very very effective. Not a monkey job quite the opposite old timers who know a thing or two have been doing this for donkeys years...Watch & Learn.
