What's the happy medium between spending enough 1 on 1 quality time with the person you're with and dating around others to avoid temptation???
@UndeadManifest4 жыл бұрын
Don't allow yourself to be in a situation where the two of you are SOLELY alone - be near other people. Be chaperoned. People in another room while you teo have your quality time. Stick to public places

Ideas - parks, museums, zoos, coffee shops, restaurants, group game nights, shopping downtown, etc. - all great places to talk and get quality time without the extra temptation!
@jonathanasdell93103 жыл бұрын
If temptation is an issue (which it will be if you're attracted to the other person), don't be alone with them 1 on 1 in a private space. Spend time outside, hang out in public spaces, but never 1 on 1 privately for leisure time. I fell into this with my last girlfriend and didn't put the boundaries in place to "run from sin" as we're called to do

Isn't the "growing desire to be physically intimate" called lust which is a sin?
@aileenprestan18234 жыл бұрын
No.. That's natural that you want to be physically intimate with someone you love. The lust will be to covet it... Search for it and imagine it when it's not time and you don't have the right to do it.

What if the father is not a Christian and is a manipulative marcissist who is abusive and extremely possessive? In short, he has his own interest in mind, not his daughter's. Also, in our culture women are by law viewed as adults without parental control by the time they are adults. If we are to follow the law, letting the father dictate his daughter seems "off". So how does this wirk in this situation?!

@@ThatHoodieGirl This just reminds me of my biggest temptation to leave the church. John Piper's answer to "What if a Godly woman has a husband who lives in sin?" He says she should still be subject to him. I hope John Piper is wrong about his many descriptions of marriage, because if he's right, I'll die before I ever marry. What I've heard him say about marriage makes me quite frankly embarrassed to be affiliated with the church at times.
@justonetime61794 жыл бұрын
Flyingferrets5 “lead” and “subject” are not concrete as such. All believers should follow Christ 100%. We should respect our parents/spouse enough to listen and consider what they say. But ultimately if it clashes with following Jesus then we dont follow it. Like if your parents/spouse wanted you to break the law you wouldn’t do it.

Anyone who sees this, I want your personal opinion, is dating even a thing? Should we date? It is not in the Bible, or I'd like to see a passage where it mentions dating, I think it should start as a friendship in the aim of a marriage, I am really confused with it being something we should allow or not, if not, why do we see it as something normal and answering questions to improve relationships that are not in the Book.. anyone who can give me a concrete point, more than welcome
@aspiretolove7 жыл бұрын
Andres Alvarado Lizano great point! Dating was not something that existed in the culture during biblical times. Marriage was more of a family driven business deal, where parents decided whether their daughter could marry so and so. Ideally, the main thing to remember whenever pursuing a convenant relationship in marriage is that it honors God. The way its done is different from culture to culture, but it is all done to bring two people together in a covenant relationship so that they become more like Jesus through their relationship! Please consider picking up Loveology by John Mark Comer, he talks more in in-depth on how Christians can date in a God honoring way

1 Corinthians 7:8-9 Now to the unmarried and the widows I say: It is good for them to stay unmarried, as I do. But if they cannot control themselves, they should marry, for it is better to marry than to burn with passion.
@followerofchrist98004 жыл бұрын
I’m sorry but this comment seems real...well...stupid. You saying that it should start with friendship in the aim of marriage- well, that’s exactly what dating is. That’s why it’s called having a girlFRIEND and a boyFRIEND.
@Syzlex_3 жыл бұрын
I think it requires godly wisdom. There are areas that aren't 100% clear biblically (hence the different podcast topics) but I think dating is useful if done in a godly way. It should be seen as a time to know the other as friends with the potential for marriage. To skip strait to marriage without sometime without dating I guess could work.... Not sure how successful that'd be lol.
