Mr. Brown that’s an awesome video. I definitely agree with what you said. However I’d want to mention that load boards not only kill the brokerage but the carriers business as well. Shot same video but switch every ‘’shipper word for broker” and “broker for carrier”. Carriers are killing these rates and you cannot any well paid freight from there.

100% correct about companies that post their freight. It's generally so poorly priced and picked over that there's no room for you to make money.

@freightbrokers your video in the beginning is talking about finding carriers through a load board and how you’re just gonna find stingy carriers, but half way through you talk about finding customers through a load board. I was just confused about that, my question is what’s the best way to find carriers to cover your freight if it’s not off a load board? Thanks Dennis
@FreightBrokers4 жыл бұрын
No that's not what I said, please watch it again. At the beginning I say that brokers make the mistake of trying to get shippers from load boards and I stand by that and say that is a waste of time and all you will find as far as shippers is bottom feeders looking for cheap rates. BUT load boards are one of the primary ways that new brokers and agent find and develop relationships with carriers. Hope this helps.

Many "freight agents" post DAT loads on their own companies inter-loads boards for truckers to snag (i.e. Landstar, Schnider, etc) often at prices below what they were originally posted at on DAT or the original board. Essentially double or "co-" brokering all day long... isn't this an example of brokers finding freight on load boards lol? Heck, as an owner operator half of the loads I've hauled for brokers over the past 5 years were originally from another larger broker or 3PL. It seems this happens much more often than what you're suggesting. Which is of course that freight brokers/agents should 'only' use load boards to post loads for their own direct shippers/customers, not find business. (the "right way" of doing it) Thx! ...don't get me wrong, I agree wholeheartedly agree with your premise of seeking quality relationships with direct shippers to truly grow and scale your business but I'd argue MOST don't start out that way, in fact, they keep their lights on and their foot in the door by trolling load boards to begin networking as step one.
@FreightBrokers2 жыл бұрын
The only way for broker or agent to build a real, sustainable and highly profitable freight broker business is to go direct to shippers. Co brokering is ok to supplement your busines when the situation is right but you need to go direct for long-term success!

Hello, just a quick question. When I get a load from a shipper, how and where do I post that load for carriers to bid on? Do the shippers post the loads on a platform that they set up , me the broker with? That's different from the live load boards? If that makes sense. Lol
@FreightBrokers2 жыл бұрын
Typically brokers post loads to load boards like DAT and Truckstop to create visibility with carriers looking for loads. There are also ways where you can create your own site or email list where’d you can communicate with your carriers about load availability and or rates.

Good info. Thanks for all the info you share. It is truly valuable. I am looking into becoming a broker: Question: per your video I understand that if I have a load assigned, I can use the load board to find carriers to move that freight is that correct? if so, how are rates negotiated at that point? This is a a very interesting career. Anyways, thanks for your time and the valuable info you share every week. Regards from Nebraska. JB

@FreightBrokers5 жыл бұрын
Freight brokers work with manufacturers, producers, distributors, importer,, exporters so you need to find people who make, product and distribute goods. LinkedIn is one of my favorite sources of leads but there are many ways to get leads including any retail store where you can pickup the product and see the company name, address and website right on the packing. 😎

@FreightBrokers3 жыл бұрын
As a motor carrier you do not want to try to get your loads thru load boards regardless if from a broker or not. You should learn the skill of selling and go direct to shippers. If I was a carrier that's exactly what I would do and only use brokers when needed. The challenge with small motor carriers, in particularly, is they get lazy and start accepting all or the majority of their loads from brokers because they either fear and or avoid selling.
@jahbeatline58013 жыл бұрын
@@FreightBrokers i understand. What you saying. I dont kno if my wording is off. I was thinking there's a board.Where shipper post. Thats how brokers bid and get loads. One of many ways. Then the broker post that load on a board where MC's like myself can get. In a nut shall. what I'm saying how can I get on that board get the load for myself as a motor carrier if there is a board like that. Thinking there a hub/hosting site. Where shippers advertise there lines something like an auction and brokers/MC'S go and bid.
