Nice tutorial. I’ve been on the fence of what harmonica to get next. This may have sold me on the rocket. The SP20 is great so this must be even better!

I have the Rocket Amp and the Special 20. I like them both for different reasons. The Rocket Amp is alot more comfortable and enjoyable to play.

Hey Jason, I've got a question if you mind answering it please. I have a green in Bb and a gray in D like yours; the green one seems to me, as you say, like butter while I'm not getting the same feeling with the gray one that seems kind of airy. So, how does your D feels like? I'm trying to figure out if it is the D tonality, the model of the harp or I got lucky getting a "defective" one. BTW I have a SP 20 in A and trying to decide if I'm going to get another A in MB Delux, MB Crossover, Suzuki Promaster or Rocket Amp (reluctant to include gray rocket). Thanks.

@@makosmakos137 hi there's a lots of factors to consider there. All my rockets are gone now, I gave them away. But I can say the D was as nice, equally as any other key I had in those amp or rocket models. Airy? How airy? How many D harps do you have? How does it compare to another D harp? You could open it up and check what the gaps are like. Have you done that sort of thing before? Normally if holes are airy then it's because the gaps need closing a bit. Happy for me & you to connect over messenger many you could send video or photos? Audio. Find me here. @@makosmakos137 out of the list you gave if I was a Hohner man with moneyI'd get crossover. I've got a few mb deluxe they are very nice.

@@CandidHarper Thanks for the reply mate, I have two Ds a Suzuki Proharp that plays nicely and the "problematic" Hohner Rocket that probably needs its gaps fixed (didn't want to mess around with reeds and stuff until I figured this out); I guess I'll eventually do it. -Surprised to hear that you have abandoned Rockets! why so? I'm trying to replace or double SP20s and MB classics with a "better" harp and considered Rockt Amps as a good choice to settle since they are also easier to maintain than wooden comb harps.I suppose "Crossovers" would be my ultimate harps. until then I try to keep the expense around 50 Euros (Crossovers cost nearly 70). Cheers

I’ve only been playing for a couple of months now so I’m still in C territory. But, I have in C a Special 20, Rocket, and Session steel. The Rocket is my favorite thus far but I should get Rocket Amp just so I know 😅.

Qual vc acha melhor irmão a rocket ou a marine band 1986?
@CandidHarper5 ай бұрын
@@Wandergatinho no such thing as better or best. Both very different. Mb classics has wood comb & no screws, only nails holding it together. Nice harp but not practical for beginners. Rocket plastic combs & has screws , easy to clean & open. Marine bands are not for beginners I believe

I can hardly imagine what it must have been like to pay $3/4 US for a harp in the 70s!

I just ordered some of these. I wanted to find a nodel i like that is offered in all the normal keys, but also the low keys, and this fits the bill. Do you know any hood harps tuned in wqual temperament? I know people like the golden melody, I'm not a fan of how it feels in ny hand or my mouth. I do want to find an equal temperament tined harp for some more melodic tunes though
@CandidHarper Жыл бұрын
Yes I believe you can go to seydel and ask them to tune it however you like. Or I go through "the Harmonica company UK" but likewise your local harp dealer can order from seydel. What country are you in? 👍

Here in the U.S. Special 20 will cost you $60.00 dollars. They are pricey. Rocket series cost even more. Only Rocket I'd be willing to purchase at such cost would be The Rocket Low F. Fender makes the Blues DeVille at $35.00 or $40.00 dollars which is every bit as good as any Honer product. Even the low price Fender Blues Deluxe at $12.00 dollars is a good and reliable harmonica for the price. I don't know if Fender is available in The U.K. however.

I like grey Rockets more then Amps, cause they are louder in acoustic way, more playable and have bigger holes...Of course, Amps are not bad at all also, better than SP20...
