A good car, they drive well, and minor dislikes, like the lack of storage in the front. The pocket are so thin in the door, they don't even take my sunglass case. Good size Glove Box. The spare was the space saver, so annoying for Australians. The lights in the Low Beam were no great. Easy to live with car, I have the 2.4i 6 speed auto, and can get close to 900 Klms from the 60 Litre tank on highways. Known issues, Keys getting stuck in the Ignition. Heavy on front brakes, but a long life car. Just be sure the Service Books are good, the Timing Belt has been changed, and a transmission flush is done regularly.

I own a 2008 s40 2.5 turbocharged and haven't had any major problems with it, very solid unlike most small cars, and I live in the n. east USA and encounter ice and snow in the winter months and she handles like a cat on carpet. After market bluetooth (BT) module for media can be fitted on models with just the CD player and no AUX. The BT circuit board comes with a compatible flat cable that will plug into the CD player's main board and then daisy chain via the CD cable to the media console. Not hard to fit. You just need to remove the CD player, open it up to connect the BT module cable, put it back together and reinstall it. When your media device (phone) is paired to the BT module, you need to play a CD to hear your media device content. When you turn off or disconnect your bluetooth media device, the CD player will switch to the CD and play that. I fitted one to mine. Works well.

So just a couple of queries, Shane. I was looking at an 1.6L Diesel '09 S40 R Design yesterday in Limerick, where I'm from. I test drove it, and it was very neat and tidy. Also had a nice bit of oomph, which is ideal for an engine that's much bigger than my 1.3L Astra. I was a bit concerned with the small head and leg space in the back. And the cabin in general feels a bit compressed (though I'm a tall enough guy, so that's a natural feeling.) The handling was also great, and the seating and ride was very comfortable. Has done just over 105000 miles. The dealer (an independent) had it valued at 8000 but would take my Astra and bring it down to 6000 if I want it. I really want to get one too like yourself, but it isn't easy when not many of these are sold in dealers. Most are sold privately, and they're the dodgy ones. What do you think? Is it worth it?

I've got this model of S40, very nice to drive, fabulous on the motorway and the 6 speed gearbox makes a huge difference when on the motorway. The only criticism I'd have is that when you fill it up, it will show as full for quite a while, especially on long runs (AS long as you keep it around 2000 revs) but once the fuel gauge does start to dip below full it goes into freefall and before you know it you're filling it up again.

I found and fix the problem, maybe this would help u guys. So first, take out all carpets. After that, if possible put under rain or u also can use just water and spray a tons of water just like rain. In my case, the water leak come from the front passenger side, but its not from the doors ( some car leaking come from the side doors trim ). My case it's come from front which is connected with engine room area, Anyway doesn't matter where's the water come in just check it, see where's the water come in, if you found it u just can fix it with glue/seal special for aquarium or house roof sealant. I wish this give u a little help, good luck.

Pendulum motor mount wears out.-Engine rocks back and forth. Cheap and easy fix. Lower control arm bushings wear out fast-Front tires clunk back and forth. Axel Boots rip- Causes axles to fail (mine are ripped) Timing belt service is a bit expensive if you have someone do it. Headliner falls down. 200k miles on my 2.4 gas. I think The clutch replacement is more expensive than average.

Tom dealers here in sweden are great but they are not worth it when a good mechanic does the same work for 10-20% of the cost

I bought a 2006 s40 volvo, diesel 1.6 model, from a dealer ship’s car When ridind the first day after taking it home I realised that it was stuck at 3000rpm, couldnt go further Took it for the mechanic and he did the scanning thing on the computer And was about 1000€ +_ of parts to replace Called the guy who sold it to me And he said call the waranty they will pay for it Called them and explained everything and gave every info they asked Few days pass and no one calls me The car is sitting on the garage cause couldnt ride it If I did ride it I could be damaging more the car and the waranty wasn’t going to pay so kinda waited until I decided to call the bank and return the car to the dealer ship ( here you have 14 days to return after buy called regret or defected) So I called the guy saying I was returning the car and he instantly said I can fix it no problem and then I said you lied to me you said the car was fine just put diesel and you can ride it no sweat Sure thing bud Now I have to take the car back today and do the paper work Its going to suck after all the waiting and work I put to buy the car.... Hope I can do everything and get my money back But I liked the car a lot, feel sorry for being broken ...

Where do you live? I was going to ask what year it was, but then at you finally mention it at 2:49-2:51 min. in. Kept me waitin' bro! haha B-) I thought it was a 2011 due to the Wheels/Rims, then it is a D and I never looked into the D trims to tell if the wheels/rims were different or not. I was wondering because I have a 2006 S40 T5 6 Spd AWD. I was watching an overview on here of the 2011 T5 FWD Auto and I already knew the displacement was the same 2.5l with a low boost turbo. Then as he stated the stat's for the 2011 and they were Identical to mine I became a little confused. Did Volvo not do any upgrades at all in 6 years other than light's? Anyway's, that's a pretty black 1.6 D. It's just a little under-powered for me. Otherwise, I hope you bought it!

It's a sharp car and a comfortable ride, with luxury obviously. I have one. But it's acceleration is pretty slow compared to most cars on the road today.

obviously not talking about the T5....i have one and its literally one of the quickest cars on the road and leaves even still most modern cars for dust. 240bhp stock, but mine is stage one tuned with a couple of mods to just under 300bhp

Simple answer is no, never ever buy one. I've got one and I would never buy a Volvo again. I'd rather crawl somewhere on my hands and knees through broken glass than have a Volvo. They cost an absolute fortune to run. I've never had a car which was so bad on fuel. To put this into perspective, before this I had a Jaguar XF, massively more powerful, much bigger engine and I would fill my Jag up once a month and that was it. Didn't need to put fuel in again until the following month. My Volvo, which has the same engine as this one, has to be filled up 3 times a month doing the same amount of mileage. It has to be serviced every year which, (providing nothing needs to be done) will cost you a minimum of £500. If anything needs to be done it will cost you a hell of a lot more. Never buy a Volvo. Buy a Jag, massively cheaper to run, more powerful and much, much nicer to drive.
@matthewjones95653 жыл бұрын
@munky 306 You're right, there is no comparison. A Jaguar will cost much less to run hands down. I know because I've owned both. Fuel aside, the Jaguar was also much, much cheaper to insure, much nicer to drive and far more reliable. I'm speaking from experience because, as I said, I've actually owned both cars.
@matthewjones95653 жыл бұрын
@munky 306 I've actually spoken to a few people who have had Volvos and thought the same. I even had someone who works for Volvo who has said that they would never buy one. I wouldn't completely agree about the "vastly different demographics", as I said I've had both and I'm not vastly different now compared to how I was driving a Jag, I'm just less happy. Having owned both cars I would argue that I'm perfectly qualified to make an argument. If you haven't owned both cars, or even driven both cars, can you really tell me that I'm wrong? I've owned both, so therefore I'm not making a blind point.
