Absolutely fascinating to see how familiar the systems that go into these pond setups are. The basin is functionally a sump, the skimmer is basic mechanical filtration, bio-fall is exactly the same as any other bag of bio media in an indoor tank..just awesome. I am so excited for this project!! I built a (very small) fish pond in my yard this past summer and it was a lot of fun and a big learning experience. it is such a joy to have a pond, it completely transformed the look and feel of my yard and I found myself spending so much more time outdoors, which was really great. I cannot wait to see videos detailing the pond build. One piece of advice: Go as big as you possibly can. Everything I have read, and my own experience, says that everyone's biggest regret of their pond build is not making it just a little bit bigger. My dad is already mentally planning size upgrades for it.

Depends really. Personally, it's a ton of hard labor, but it's well worth it. I had to plan, dig and scape my pond all by myself. It's 600 gallons with a depth of 3 different levels. 2 ft on the left, 3ft in the middle and 1ft on the right. While housing 18 types of fish and 2 types of water lilies. So far, its been running strong for 1 year now.

That's so exciting! Reminds me of when I first installed my pond. I am not a fan of the aquascape systems for a couple reasons but I do love several aspects as well.
