Moved my permanent residence from upstate NY to Greer recently. While we are a ways from downtown, it’s a great place to visit for drinks and food. On a down note as mentioned, it is growing very rapidly. Hopefully this won’t destroy such a beautiful suburb!

We been here and it’s small and charming. Not much outside restaurants, bars and parks. But it’s quiet and not bad traffic to down town: 25 mins from down town Greer to downtown Greenville

Thanks for the evaluation of my home town. Greer has experienced dramatic change since the '80's. With growth there are always pros and cons. One Con you mentioned that I do take exception to is the building of downtown apartments. As of today there is only one apartment building under construction in downtown. It will be a four story brick building with balconies over looking City Park. The videos of apartment buildings under construction are not in Greer. It appears they are in Greenville. Two final points. Greer is not a suburb of Greenville. Greer's population actually increases daily as many travel in for work. Greer leaders have made it a priority to maintain our identity as small Southern Town while managing the growth. As an extra bit of info, Greer's Population now exceeds Spartanburg's and is expected to over take Greenville as the Upstates largest City.

I’m in love with this area already! How far are the lakes and mountains?

We have several local lakes, my personal favorite is Lake Robinson. We are about 45 min to an hour from major lakes as well like Hartwell for example. 3 hours from Charleston for a nice\historical area beach trip, or about 5 hours from myrtle beach. We are roughly 2 hours away from Atlanta, Ga. & very close to the mountains! You can be in the mountains within 30 min or less as we are extremely close to NC. Gatlinburg, TN is about a 3 hour drive. My favorite mountain vacation! I love our location because of the convenience to everything around us! Takes about 13 min to get to I85 from my house, & we also have an international airport here, GSP. Hope this helps!

What do the age demographics look like in Greer? My wife and I are in our early 20s and are trying to get away from the older populations in the lowcountry

there are many things to do in Greer and the surrounding areas and the people see him a whole lot more polite and civilized not so redneck and ill-educated there is entertainment small places small venues and the food tends to be better than Greenville or Pickens county...
