Yeah her math makes no sense at all. They’re spending a ton of money somewhere that she didn’t get specific about. But even brushing that aside how does it mathematically work in your mind that trading $4800 in to save $3700 gets you ahead? I’d love to know what $4500 to keep the home operating includes. Rent is $2400 but almost double that is needed to keep the home functioning? They’re spending tons of money somewhere in that. But the idea that it’s Chicago’s fault they can’t make that income work is silly. Their rent is well below a reasonable monthly cost for a home compared to what they earn. There’s a ton of shit that could be cut out to give them margin but she doesn’t discuss it and seems to focus on everything but that gigantic black box that exceeds all the other problem expenses she’s discussing. When she discusses all the stuff they sold to get out of debt it doesn’t seem like they ever got their spending in control to do it and so they’re still stuck because they never actually addressed their behaviors. I would guess that the household expenses probably include stuff she knew they’d tell her to cut out but that’s just a gut feeling more than anything.

Maybe he wants to work to be around adults and utilize the skills and education he has gained over the years. The only solution these guys think of is work more. Why tf you want to work more when you have 3 young kids that need their parents. The husbands take home pay just covers the day care. Just have him stay home until the kids get older and don’t need daycare anymore. They need a cheaper mortgage also. Sell that house and get something half of what they pay for a month maybe?

Is there no possibility of increasing his income at his current job or getting a better job ??? It doesn't sound like hubs is highly ambitious if he's "open to" staying home. This of course is the same problem as career women taking time off to raise babies and then not being able to get back in the job market at the same level as before.

These guys are trying to find any reason to not have this man stay at home with their children. They don't factor in the value of having a parent raising their kids instead of farming them out to strangers in a daycare. Also, you get a tax credit of 3000 per kid per year for childcare. So 55,200-9,000=46,200. 90,000 a year brings in about 67000 after tax which means 20k over what you're paying for childcare.

As a man I would never even think about staying at home while my wife works. That's a HUGE No-No. Because truth be told, as a man you are only as valuable as you are useful. And if you're not making money, you're not useful. My career is more important than her's even if she's making more because as a man, you're the provider. You have to bring something to the table for the relationship to work, but as a woman, providing is elective, it's great if she does it, but it's not necessary. And honestly, if a woman is making more money, over time she's going to lose respect for him, she's going to think she's better than him, start looking for other options, and that's when the relationship is over and she files for divorce. 50% of marriages end in divorce, and 80% of those are initiated by women. And the reason is not because the man was abusive, or he cheated, it's because of financial reasons.
