Stay-at-home dads on the rise

Nearly 1 in 5 stay-at-home parents are now dads, according to new data from the Pew Research Center. The group found 18% of stay-at-home parents were fathers in 2021, up from 11% in 1989. Kim Parker, director of social trends research at Pew, joined CBS News to talk about the trend.

My wife and I are planning on having kids in a few years, and we discussed it; and it makes more sense for me to be a stay at home dad than her. We make about the same amount of money, but her benefits are better and her work is more lenient on her being absent than my draconian corporate job. She also has opportunities to advance. The cost of daycare for a week is like the amount of one of our paychecks; so it’s better if I quit and become a full-time homemaker because I can upkeep the house while watching babies.

I got a new job in 2020 and work from home. So nice and stress free.....I am like a stay at home dad and work a stress free job 7-4....and get paid pretty well for what little I do.....

Whatever works for you and ur wife hopefully am not saying u will divorce or anything but just make sure u will be OK even after separation cuz that is important too.

I'm a stay-at-home dad. I'm a full time Options/Indices Trader for 3 and half years. I made more than 7 figures and trade for 3 hours max and 235 days a year. I tried to convince to my wife to do the same, but loves her job. Oh well, as long as she's happy then I'm okay with it. I used to work as a Senior Warehouse Selector at a Fortune 100 company. The job pays well above minimum wage, coworkers and managers are great (I still keep in touch with them to this day), and the environment is overall less stressful (except during Summer months).

Suicide rate is about to go through the ceiling! I’m a stay at home mom. Don’t be fooled it’s constant work no down town! You’re always tending to someone else needs and planning cleaning etc! I’d much rather be at work 8-10 hours a day and split house chores and time spent with the children
