I'm a 23 year old stay at home dad with a 2 year old boy and a 10 month old boy. I love taking care of them, they're my whole life and my fiance works her ass off 12 hours a day 6 days a week and it's hard. When I grew up my dad worked like that and my mom took care of me and my sister. Things can change, no matter your gender we can all do it. I never seen myself doing this but I'm glad I am. These kids make me want to strive for better. They make me want to be healthier and a better person. Having kids changes your life. I wouldn't ever change it back, kids are a blessing. I think men should be allowed to do whatever they want to, just like women are. If they want to go out and work, then that's fine. If they want to raise kids, then that's fine. If they never want to get married at all nor have kids, then that's fine. Anyway, I think it would be good for children to have more interaction with their fathers. It's sad how many people have strained relationships with their fathers because they're never around. Why should women have sole power over how the children are raised?

Is it really that surprising that stay at home dads/husbands get criticized? It's been a secret "law" of society that men should work outside the home while women stay home, which I believe is bologna. If women can do any job men can do, then certainly men can do work that women do in the household. Nothing's wrong with that. It doesn't make them any less of a man. Granted, I have no intention of being a stay at home husband, but that's by choice for me. At any rate, it's nobody's business what people do with their lives, personally or professionally. If it's do any real harm to your life in any way, why do you care?
@keysersoze43227 жыл бұрын
I honestly think it's admirable when men can put aside all that macho/ego crap and get on with it. It's not that they're not capable to go and work, of course they are, it is like you say, a choice. I actually think it makes for a more dynamic person. People who are against it are insecure in their masculinity, they wouldn't feel so threatened by it otherwise. Your job alone doesn't define you as a man, and if you feel it does then there must be a lot lacking elsewhere.

Got to disagree Manuel. Some will, some won't. Granted the ones that do are probably in the minority. I have a 6 year old step son and a 3 year old daughter. I am a musician by trade and my wife works a lot. It is very rewarding but its THE HARDEST thing I have ever done in my life. The level of preparation and consistency you need. The patience and also scheduling... the emotional range. Its difficult to be yourself when others need so much of you...but thats what makes a man!

I taught him how to care for infants wbene his brotberGerman Conrad was born even as ibreaat fed Germancito Roland was there being held as well. I also encouraged home schooling. I respect dadmoms they in the majority of o occasions are more tolerant patient and can protect their children by far with responsibility. Congratulations da

There really is a double standard and it's unfair. Women aren't judged when they stay at home with their kids but men are subject to the harshest criticism when they do it. I have hope that this nonsensical way of thinking disappears in the near future. As long as kids are being taken care of and loved, it doesn't matter who works and who stays home. It isn't the 50's anymore. Let's stop acting like it is.

Absolutely! We need to train more people to be entrepreneurs, rather than employees so they *can* spend more time at home with their kids.
@ashleycasey209311 жыл бұрын
Chris Humphreys My solution was to encourage 'older parents', off-grid minimalist living, and retirement. I know it sounds crazy but think about it: most of the reason why parenting is challenging nowadays is because people usually go into young; unprepared; and naive, some of them haven't even completely 'matured' yet, and are still finding self identity. Older parents tend to be more mature; more financially stabled, and more prepared. As for *_off-grid minimalist living_*, you're just going to have to do a google search to understand how this benefits parents.

That's stupid (that your in-laws act that way). I'm sorry to hear that. For what it's worth, I think parenting is one of the best things a person can do with their life. So many kids these days aren't taught right from wrong, don't feel valued or loved, and don't have someone really paying attention to their needs. You're making a huge difference in your son's life, and he won't forget that.
