Let me get this straight. So people complain about men who have nothing to do with their children, and people complain when the father decides to stay at home and be an active, loving parent? I'm I missing something? Can no one win anymore? Parenting ain't easy, for anyone. Well done for these guys to step up and saying "I'll take this job."

I'm a 23 year old stay at home dad with a 2 year old boy and a 10 month old boy. I love taking care of them, they're my whole life and my fiance works her ass off 12 hours a day 6 days a week and it's hard. When I grew up my dad worked like that and my mom took care of me and my sister. Things can change, no matter your gender we can all do it. I never seen myself doing this but I'm glad I am. These kids make me want to strive for better. They make me want to be healthier and a better person. Having kids changes your life. I wouldn't ever change it back, kids are a blessing. I quit a lot of bad habits and dropped a lot of things in my life that were getting me no where in life. Focusing on my kids and my lovely lady is all I need to be happy

I have been a stay home dad for 20 years. I don't even know what else to say. I have three children: son age 20 (now in the army), daughter age 18 (now in the navy), and a daughter age 14 (now a freshman in highschool who plays tenor saxophone and the piano and in the marching band). Too much else to say for a video comment.

I've been a stay at home dad for 2 years now and have been struggling with the mental battles I put myself thru. Im ashamed for not being the bread winner despite my wife being perfectly fine with our roles. I feel judged by my in laws, friends, and even my own family for taking on this role (despite never actually being judged). I'm even ashamed to take my 2 year old son, and 5 month old daughter to the park alone cuz I feel it's not "manly" for a guy to be seen with kids in a stroller. Yea I know... I need help 🙁

@jenuelcamilo I hear you brother and you are an example of how switching roles can damage your mental health. That estrogen in men is damaging and you need testosterone, God made men to have it and be the head, and women with estrogen and be at home. The kitchen is a woman's domain. If you want, compromise with your wife and be a man.

I think men should be allowed to do whatever they want to, just like women are. If they want to go out and work, then that's fine. If they want to raise kids, then that's fine. If they never want to get married at all nor have kids, then that's fine. Anyway, I think it would be good for children to have more interaction with their fathers. It's sad how many people have strained relationships with their fathers because they're never around. Why should women have sole power over how the children are raised?

I agree personally I dun wanna be a mom who has to always take care of the kids cause then I feel like I’m that blasted cow with 6 tatas for her 6 babys like c’mon man all I ask is that we take turns with da baby for at least a day I go work on monday n daddy-o hang with baby at da house at that day of course if I’m at home with da baby imma have a baby sitter be with me for 24hrs on that day and you wouldnt wanna know why............luckily I dont got babies and 6 tatas and plus there should be more stay at home dads it teaches em a dozen things they never learned like heck just think about it which is pretty if u think about a regular dad that divorces his wife or breaks up with his gf and doesnt have baby in his arms he goes off to get a job get an apartment no worries n all dat shit and probably still lucky enough to keep their bank account and do whatever they want with it then look good buy an alcohol hang with pals go to a stripper club n bang another chic like what almost everyday? yup dats one heck of a life right? yeaaaaah and the negativity still goes on and yes I do worry for a man’s health and what he does including his behaviors cause if I was ur divorced I’d be like wait whaaaaaaaat? thats what u did with ur life? u must be wasted or did u forget u got a kid because that fact will never EVER change mhm dats NEVER EVER gonna change cause u planted sperm in dat very first chic u banged and da next one and the next one dat comes afterwards do be mindful 99% a chic can get pregnant once banged its inevitable n condoms wont save those chics u banged I personally think its meant to prevent pregnancy for I dunno prolly about a good 2 or 3 yrs then after that wears off its baby time somewhere around year 5 or 6 when u least expect it of course and then guess what? one of those gurls can get to ur piggy bank when u least expect it because some of u guys r stupid enough to go find another chic to bang and ditch those other pregnant chics meaning the problem isnt just the womens but the mens fault due to their negative behavior and they can get away with it and not learn to grow out of it so its pretty much both men n women luckily I’m not in dat problem cause I’d rather be wrinkly and old happily drinking tea or wine watching my favorite tv show or making different types of new food reading a book or listening to music its too bad u cant simple men like dat cause then they eventually wanna make out with u and personally I dont want dat as I see that as nothing but danger to me now I truly do feel bad for da men but all I see is their negative behaviors and very few good fathers and stay at home dads. Is it really that surprising that stay at home dads/husbands get criticized? It's been a secret "law" of society that men should work outside the home while women stay home, which I believe is bologna. If women can do any job men can do, then certainly men can do work that women do in the household. Nothing's wrong with that. It doesn't make them any less of a man. Granted, I have no intention of being a stay at home husband, but that's by choice for me. At any rate, it's nobody's business what people do with their lives, personally or professionally. If it's do any real harm to your life in any way, why do you care?
@keysersoze4322

I honestly think it's admirable when men can put aside all that macho/ego crap and get on with it. It's not that they're not capable to go and work, of course they are, it is like you say, a choice. I actually think it makes for a more dynamic person. People who are against it are insecure in their masculinity, they wouldn't feel so threatened by it otherwise. Your job alone doesn't define you as a man, and if you feel it does then there must be a lot lacking elsewhere.

Got to disagree Manuel. Some will, some won't. Granted the ones that do are probably in the minority. I would say though that it tends to be highly educated women with good jobs that gravitate to men that would like to be stay at home dads. For career reasons, obviously. Regardless, as long as the kids are well cared for it really doesn't matter by whom, in my opinion.

I know a few guys I served with that got out and now stay at home with the kids and still bring in a substantial income. So don't be too quick to judge these stay at home dads, some of them have served honorably and have multiple combat tours.

About a week ago I went to my swiming lessons and next to the pool, the little ones were with their parents with their inflatables and stuff. There was only this one guy with his baby boy splashing around. It was the cutest thing ever. I don't want to be a stay home dad, but that is simply because the missus and I agreed on the other side of the coin, not having kids. She's also very career driven so quitting either of our jobs for chilcare wouldn't be a great idea, not just for us, but for a baby.

There really is a double standard and it's unfair. Women aren't judged when they stay at home with their kids but men are subject to the harshest criticism when they do it. I have hope that this nonsensical way of thinking disappears in the near future. As long as kids are being taken care of and loved, it doesn't matter who works and who stays home. It isn't the 50's anymore. Let's stop acting like it is.

Chris Humphreys My solution was to encourage 'older parents', off-grid minimalist living, and retirement. I know it sounds crazy but think about it: most of the reason why parenting is challenging nowadays is because people usually go into young; unprepared; and naive, some of them haven't even completely 'matured' yet, and are still finding self identity. Older parents tend to be more mature; more financially stabled, and more prepared. As for *_off-grid minimalist living_*, you're just going to have to do a google search to understand how this benefits parents.

Only person that we have to pick up and watch our kids is their grandmother and she's getting too old to have to pick them up from school and cater to 2 kids everyday until we get home. She's going on 70. She did it for many years with my first son and now thats she's older i dont want to put that strain on her again. My children are not her responsibility and i want to be the one caring for them and teaching them everyday. I still make money selling on ebay and a couple other endeavors i have so money isnt the reason why i want to work. I just want to be more active again and of course the stigma that the dad should be working and making money is always in my mind

That's stupid (that your in-laws act that way). I'm sorry to hear that. For what it's worth, I think parenting is one of the best things a person can do with their life. So many kids these days aren't taught right from wrong, don't feel valued or loved, and don't have someone really paying attention to their needs. You're making a huge difference in your son's life, and he won't forget that.
