Worrying about HEX or HELP debt (and the interest it could be accruing), is commonplace amongst graduates here in Australia. I regularly get asked, should I pay down my student debt before I start to invest? or could investing return a better rate than the cost of the student loan interest?
In this video I explore investing, instead of paying off more of your student debt and how the two options would compare over a ten year period.
Would you prefer to pay off your HEX / HELP debt before investing or would you rather use your investments to pay down debt at a later date? I'd love to hear your experience in the comments.
It is worth remembering investment in financial products involves risk. Past performance of financial products is no assurance of future performance.
