Following a run of poor performance many people are asking ’should I remove Chinese shares from my investment portfolio?’
Stockspot expertly build portfolios to manage risk vs reward for clients and in doing so include a range of different asset classes within our portfolios. Understanding how assets interact together helps ensure you can smooth out market volatility and set yourself for more sustainable long term performance. I think it's important to include emerging markets within a balanced portfolio, as these are less correlated to Australian shares performance than global shares, reducing the impact of volatility across your portfolio.
Within the emerging market category, Chinese shares have undeniably been performing badly over recent years, however it is always important to consider long term performance and trajectory for their growth. I explore the reasons for keeping Chinese shares in your portfolio in this video.
If you’re adamant you don’t want Chinese shares within your portfolio, Stockspot does have an option available to reduce your exposure to this market. Find out more about our asset allocation here:

IMO, Australians should not be owning Chinese shares. And limiting the number of Chinese made goods to a minimum. The CCP is belligerent to Australia. We need to remember what the CCP is all about.
