Heya JP, I have the + version of this table. I contacted support about the riving knife and they said there is only one position for the knife. I asked if there was any way of cutting rebates or using some jigs safely and the response to that was "we don't recommend this on this product". I must confess I'm not too enamored by the response. No spares listed for the new saws and no shorter knife to offer. Removal of knife only option on this table to cut rebates. Maybe an aftermarket option will become available. A zero clearance throat plate has been discussed but not yet in production. Info received from Evolution as of today 24/4/24.

Hi JP - very informative video. I bought the R255+ and it's a massive upgrade on the Rage 5 I used previouslly. Hi James. Yes, there is a bit of slop. To be honest I don’t use the sliding carriage that often. Firstly I forget I have it and secondly with the cross cut jig it topples over as it is side heavy. I have a fix for that but I need to get round to the project. Regards JP

Thank you very much for your video. Coincidentally, I was about to buy the Dewalt DWE7492 when I stumbled upon your video by chance, and it made me seriously consider whether this Evolution might be a better investment. I really like the features it has, and I am genuinely interested in buying it. I have searched the web but cannot find the specification sheet. If you have the manual, it would be a great help if you could share at least the specification sheet with us. There are some details I would like to verify: the power is said to be 1800 W on the web, but the label on the machine states 1650 W, and also the no-load speed: 2500 rpm on the web, 3050 rpm on the label (as I could appreciate in your video). Regarding the use of dado blades, it would be useful if you could remove the blade and measure how much shaft is available. On the other hand, I would like to know if the sliding carriage has any play or not, and if you could measure the width of the table inserts. Considering that you have a Dewalt, I would like if you could make a comparison between the two in terms of features, quality of finishes and materials, and play. If you didn't have either of the two, which one would you choose and why? Sorry for asking so many things! But I have shared your video in a carpentry forum, and I would like to be able to give more information to other colleagues so that they can take it into account just like me! Thank you very much!

The woodworking act says that a guard must always be used, unless it's impossible to do the task with it fitted. So it's perfectly legal to remove the guard to do a dado cut, because you can't do such a cut it with the guard fitted.

Hi EotS. Clause 18.1 makes it very difficult. Don't forget that whilst most people use as hobby / self employed. This guidance is aimed at employers, and their insurance ( and the HSE) will expect compliance. Of course, manufacturers, cannot control where there tools go, so need to be made to comply to regs. Regards JP
@enemyofthestatewearein79455 ай бұрын
@@Smallbarnworkshop For sure. HSE would expect you to do a risk assessment and implement appropriate controls, which could be cumbersome or expensive. So many will shy away, simply because of the extra hassle. I suspect also manufacturers design their machines to avoid liability, as demanded by their own PLI.

@trobinou478 ай бұрын
Dust management is probably the aspect that has evolved the most! This is an excellent development. However, it's unfortunate that Evolution chose to use non-standard grooves like the T-Track format, both for the table and the fence. This poses a problem for adapting many accessories that can be found everywhere or made yourself. I also hope that the aluminum thickness of the fence is of better quality than on the R5, as mine has had a dent of about 0.5mm right in the middle since day one. On the Rutland, you can hook the fence from underneath to temporarily store it. Is this possible here? In your previous video, we can see that the chip extraction on the blade guard is placed at the rear. Positioning it more towards the front would be even more effective. Not including a soft start on all models seems a bit stingy. It doesn't cost much, less than €8! This new version nonetheless remains an excellent table saw 👍
