As a Canadian, I can say that Norm's influence reached far beyond the U.S. borders. I have been a fan of Norm, T.O.H., and the New Yankee Workshop for decades and have learned much of what I know from him. I miss his work, his ability to teach, and wish him and his family the best.

I'm a master furniture maker today thanks to THE NEW YANKEE WORKSHOP, I knew nothing about cabinet making or furniture making before watching THE NEW YANKEE WORKSHOP. I'd even bought the same delta table saw, wood lathe, surface planer, router and router/shaper that Norm had on the show. And 34 years later, they all still work, perfectly.

As a teenaged girl....I used to love watching THIS OLD HOUSE on PBS channel 11 in Chicago, IL. Then when Norm got his own show with NYWS.....I was definitely hooked!!! I loved the way he took the time to explain every piece of equipment and its purpose.....and he always stressed SAFETY FIRST.... and....a clean workshop is a productive workshop. I love that the show offered blue prints of every piece he made so you can make it yourself....This was true DIY.....I really miss him but glad I can find the shows on KZbin!!!

As a DIYer, I loved watching Norm's shows from This Old House to the New Yankee Workshop. Norm was definitely one of those people who influenced me to tackle home projects and woodworking years ago and which I still love today.

He was lucky to have a great teacher. It was new yankee workshop that got me into woodworking. I'm retired, and I spend my time in the garage woodworking, and from time to time, I go back and watch his old shows. Thanks, Norm, for the shows!

I am a 77yo engineer and homesteader. Norm has influenced my life in a big way from the early days of 'This old house' mostly the 'New Yankee Workshop'. I built furniture and buildings based on his inspiration. Hard to say how much I appreciate what Norm has contributed to my life.

Norm was one of the people who got me interested in architecture. I eventually got a drafting job for the State of California and later retired with a pension. I now can do my painting and sculpture to my hearts content. Thank You Norm.

We all love and miss you Norm. The woodwork you did looked so simple to do. At least that is what I thought but, there was a mass of education and experience behind Norm to do what he does with ease. A true artist at work!

Norm inspired me to build my own house. With only one failed class in woodworking I’ve built a 5500 sq ft three story double timber frame. Black walnut timbers on the outside separated by SIPs and white oak timbers on the inside. Thank you Norm.

I always knew that I wanted to work with wood and to progress to furniture, but it was Norm in the late 1980s who showed me how to get started, what tools to accumulate, and to follow Norm's instructions. Its been a very long, great ride since . . . .

My father was a journeyman cabinet maker. My career in woodworking began when i was four. My dad was handsawing and the line he had drawn kept disappearing in sawdust. I was just tall enough to slightly look down at the work surface as he sawed. I leaned a little closer and poof!, blew the dust away with each stroke. I was immediately hired... as slave labor until i was 16. My dad insulted me in front of a neighbor i respected. The neighbor was admiring a rabbit hutch i had built all by myself. My dad raised rabbits, rather, i raised the rabbits he bought. He told the neighbor, "Yeah, she does good work, but she's like a mule. You have to hit her in the head with a shovel first. I was infuriated and refused to ever work with him again. I stormed off and he was embarrassed in front of the neighbor. Fair is fair. End of slave labor.
