Omar thanks for the video and the positive feedback! To those of you that say Ultimate Rush Tribute isn’t Rush, you are 100% right. But, we are trying to help fill a void since Rush’s retirement and Neil passing in 2020. We try to give Rush fans a place to come together and enjoy as close to a Rush experience as we can do. This show was all about raising money for the cancer that took Neil. So, it was for a great cause. I talked to some of the younger people in the audience and a few of them never had the opportunity to see Rush live, but they enjoyed getting a chance to hear all of their favorite songs live. If we can help carry on the legacy and make Rush fans happy, it’s a no brainier. No, we aren’t Rush, but every show we get a little closer. kzbin.info/www/bejne/rIakeX2AnJ2siJYsi=6GXQLLJuN1swTGIn

I'm 19 and found out about Rush 2 years ago, and I've been hooked ever since. I'm a drummer, so I absolutely love Neil. I absolutely love how the 3 of them play together, it's nothing short of legendary. I wish I had the chance to see them, but I'm glad there music will live on forever. If any tribute bands come near Iowa, I'm definitely gonna check them out, even if it won't be as good as the real thing. Thanks for all your Rush videos, I've really enjoyed them! Keep up the good work 😊

You have to understand what you are asking here and even though you "mention" it, I don't think people truly understand how incredibly difficult Rush music is to play. You can take even the best musicians ie Mike Portnoy Frank Bello & Jason Bitner and even though they do a very good job covering Rush, they still pale in comparison. So, in essence...what would you have these Tribute bands do? I mean...NO one can. What people need to get over is the fact that Rush is no more, as much as we hate to even say it, it is true. I, for one would never be caught dead at a Tribute show for any band for this very reason.
@AllAboutRush9 ай бұрын
Well, I think EVERY cover band knows they’ll never be Rush (I do make a point of mentioning that in the video, even whilst commending a tribute band!). Heck, even your aforementioned example Mike Portnoy played with a tribute band recently (YYNOT), so how bad can they be? C’mon @DJRushX1 live a little! You just might enjoy the show. 😎

The 1st Rush tribute band I saw was way back in 1998 in LA, CA. They were called Caress of Steel. They were pretty good, too. I have seen some others on KZbin and they're pretty good, too.

I've seen a few different Rush cover bands and they've all been awesome. Genuinely well-practiced and relatively few errors while playing some of the challenging prog we love. I will always check out any Rush cover/tribute band I find out about that is playing within a manageable time and distance

Been a Rush fan since 1981. Heavily influenced by Neil. Cried for a week, roughly, when Neil passed. This kit is my Rush tribute kit from a Rush tribute band back in 2020.

Cool upload, unusual from a point of content but why not... brings back memories of some of the tribute bands I've seen covering Rush. I've seen a 5 piece band, mostly to separate Geddy's job on stage. In fact, the 5 piece was probably the best I've every seen anybody cover Rush. Agree, there so much nuance about Rush that's it's impossible to come anywhere close to them live on stage. For me as long the band can carry the tune without butchering it, they get a pass and I appreciate the effort. Your footage of the band was cool, anybody that can cover Geddy on stage gets my vote.

I would prefer that a tribute band play their own versions of Rush songs rather than try to copy the original, because you can't copy the original.
@AllAboutRush9 ай бұрын
Nah, I prefer it the other way around. Or at least a portion of their set list be close replicas of the original.

I'll give you a THUMBS UP Omar!! The video was done well, albeit there were a couple of times where you recorded in portrait mode.... not the end of the world mind you, however.... AND LIKE, HOLY *_NO "BASS GTR"_* in the mix!! *Not your fault AT ALL OMAR!!* And *in all honesty, **_THE ABBY_* has a decent system, and stage setup, been there a few times, *However* I think the engineer either hates a robust bass mix, *OR is mixing w/cans on, again!!! Oiiiiiyyyyy!!*
@AllAboutRush9 ай бұрын
The portrait views were purposeful to hone in on the subject. You know, videographer’s artistic selection 😁 The bass was loud enough, but could’ve been more articulate - a little muddy for my taste. I actually thought the guitars could’ve been higher in the mix, but then again, didn’t Alex always think that? 😁

Y'all just wait. Anthem is coming. Why are we not yet? Because we are perfecting it. You will be hard pressed to tell the difference. Starts with our drummer who plays Peart like a tape recorder. The bass and I are working hours a day for months to match him. Our bass player sings and does keys. I'm doing the foot pedal. The real arrangements and Tones.

It’s your choice.. but there are a few super tight tribute bands that do an outstanding job. Better than nothing
@dajaadventures62369 ай бұрын
The answer is an emphatic f#$k, yes, fans should check out Rush tribute bands!! I would MUCH rather watch a tribute band than watch other well known bands play Rush songs.That includes Primus. Scrutinizing the tribute bands is almost half the fun. We're fortunate to have 3 in our area, 2 of which are more dedicated to "authenticity", and the other just doing a show of Rush songs. Sorry to drop names, but Hawkim, Portnoy, Carey, Hamm, and so many other well-known cats completely butcher their songs when they play them.
@HansMcGruber9 ай бұрын
At least the drummer had a proper Neil kit set up, which is more than most tributes drummer bring. But they never "tune" their drums like Neil did, the tight, higher tuning which was his signature, never understood why people don't pay attention to those details. But the major thing that ruins these bands is the vocals, the singers aren't true alto's, and so they sing in falsetto, and it just doesn't sound right, or let's be honest, it sounds bad. Of course the way around that is using a female singer, but then they have four or five band members, and it sort of defeats the purpose of how Rush did it with just three. Let's face it, Rush cannot be duplicated properly, and so why do it. I have seen some fantastic Beatle tribute bands that were professionally put together, with guys that actually looked and sounded just like the original members. Until somebody does that, the amateur bands will never hold up.

@@HansMcGruber As I say in the video, no group will ever sound like Rush, but some come close with certain songs, and that can be an emotional moment if that song happens to mean something to you. The camaraderie with fellow Rush fans also makes these shows a very pleasant experience 🙂

@@AllAboutRush To each his own, I'd rather just throw on Hemispheres, MP, or Signals and enjoy the real thing. I just don't think anyone can do them justice, at least for now. There are many great Rush tribute and cover bands out there. Of course none of them will ever be the original. I play in one myself - we're a cover band as we have 4 people instead of three so I don't consider us a 'tribute'. You are right - die hard Rush fans don't miss a thing! As a drummer, not only do I have to play the drum parts as close as I possibly can, but I have the 'extra' pressure of knowing damn near everyone in the crowd (especially drummers) will be watching me to make sure I don't miss anything so they can 'air drum' along!! LOL. And I do miss things from time to time. I don't know if you know this....playing this music is hard!! I think the Achilles Heel for most of these bands is the singer. It's very hard to find someone who has a voice that can approach Geddy's. Some can handle the midrange stuff but not the high end, and others, vice -versa. Many of these bands will do their best to play everything as gnat's ass close to the original as possible. But sometimes the focus on playing the parts perfectly leads to a less than dynamic show from the players. By which I mean, they are so intent on their parts that they just stand there. Nothing wrong with that. With our band we are serious about playing the songs correctly, but we like to have fun with it too. It's all about fun right? Our guitarist and bassist will clown around during the middle section of YYZ by trying to make each other screw up! There's video out there on YT. We also have fun by doing what we call the 'medley of endings'. At the end of a show we'll play as many of the various Rush endings that we can.....thanks for the vid..
