Hi. So what I think and what my perspective is that india was looted lika alot and damage is irreversible. But the cultural artifacts which British Museum has is of India from which Britain is gaining money and increasing economy. Most of things there are of India and it's culture. If they return our belongings + an apology from their leaders to our people also along the money which they stole in form of gold jewels food grains clothes and all should be calculated and atleast 60 percent should be returned to all commonwealth nations not only India. Jash,s points seemed to me senseless since he was being pro British filled with their ideology and he also thinks expansion colonialism killing others looting countries mass famines destroying cultures was just OK. Aish was really superb. Her points were very convincing for what she won the debate. She used the actual facts and real examples not like jash using modern world comparing with 19th century. First off, the 45 trillion usd taken by British, 30 trillion was also spent on India by the British, the kings had the money, not the people, so British colonization was a good thing for India Second of all, the Kohinoor diamond wasn't stolen by the Britishers, the Indian king during the time signed a peace treaty during the 18th century and the Kohinoor diamond was included in that peace treaty, and British did stop invading India, only a hundred years later, British colonized India

If it was as good thing then why was the life expectancy in India 32 years when the Britishers left?? And the Indian king didn't gift the Britishers , he was forced to do it because the Britishers threatened him to do it otherwise they would have killed him and at that time the king was only 10 years old...... And everything they built in India was for slave transportation and when they say "Founders keepers" the Britishers didn't found the kohinoor the kohinoor was founded by Indians in the kolur mines , the Britishers just forcefully took it and its also said that "if two fishes are fighting then an Englishmen must have passed by" because Britishers left India in pieces and most of the things kept in British museum isn't even British and the hate between Hindus and Muslims started because of the divide and rule policy of Britishers , and you are saying that it was a good thing for India , if the Britishers didn't came then India would be the richest country in the world

Comment before watching the debate: I’m neither British, nor from Bhārat Gaṇarājya. I was born in Germany in 1990. The atrocities committed by Hitler and his regime are to this day in peoples mind. Of those who are still alive, and to those who came after. Decades of unspoken hurt and pain manifest in behaviours and mindsets forming the past cultures. Generational Trauma is real, and needs to be met with understanding and empathy, for one generation to break free from those old chains. I can not apologise for anything i have not done. But i can recognise the consequences of what happened in the past. I can meet those who suffered with empathy and sympathise with them and their next of kin. But from those atrocities, also came growth, a deep understanding we are not our ancestors, nor responsible for what happens. But we still need to tell these stories as accurately as possible, for these events never to occur again. Yet, many want to blame those who came after, be hold responsible for the sins of their parents or grandparents. The wish to blame is human. We must acknowledge the past, it teaches us and from that we can grow as a person and through that as a group. Projects to give back stolen items from times of wars or colonial times are in motion, educational programs and merging together in education, creating a world were we understand each of us as being more alike in what we nowadays do, like, and function as a human, than we differ in opinion, experiences or upbringing. Human history is cruel, full of adversity, paranoia, fear of the unknown. And we have always looked for ways to keep the herd satisfied or poor. Wealth created through wars and colonialism happens, and is still happening. Based in greed, fed by experience and hate, those wishing people to change to their custom will tell stories of great conviction, but purely for them selves. To the people of Bharat: All of you who suffer directly or indirectly, you deserve your story. The story of your parents, grand-parents and their parents. You deserve the good and the bad of stories to be told. As emotional as it gets, history exists to change your future to come. No one i. this world has the right to deny your story, your identity, the identity of your parents, and those who were before the colonies came. As much as for us in Germany, not everyone was part or a willing part of what happened, but we can all acknowledge to the past, and work together to a future that does not live in greed, and more, more, more. Europe is an example to the rest of the world, what narcissistic culture does to others and “their own”. Neo-Capitalism growing world wide destroying the vast cultures and knowledge civilisations like yours. Pleasing external influences and stimuli, creating dependencies, competition, and narcissistic minds - rather a true spiritual, inclusive mind. Whatever the future holds, it is about the young generations and those able, to reflect the past and create what could be. Don’t let your rich and vast culture be more compromised than it has been- that i wish for all of Bharat ❤️

As Jash gives the example of how China was not a colony but still their economy failed. To this Aishwarya replied because China had closed its economic gates. As an Indian I want to give you a image of India if the British had not looted us. Let's take the example of Japan, they were not formally colonized by any western power(before WWII), but they did open their doors to technology and develop their own industries. Thereby making them the only great imperialist power in Asia at the time of the Second World War. This past boost has benefited them till date. In the same way, India could have stood as a Power full nation in the UN if the British had never plundered us... Britishers must apologize and compensate for this.
