Detroit is known for being the reitrement home for future HOF'ers. Its done them well when it comes to imbuing the youngsters with top tier knowledge. I know its a dream, but lets go lucid.. Kane+Stamkos on a 2024 Red Wings roster... Puts a smile on my face.

I dont know how they'll re-sign him though, the Lightning really cap screwed. They have too many huge contracts that not many people are going to be willing to take, and they don't have a ton of draft picks to trade with them for incentive.

Yeah I’d rather have younger legs for the amount of money Stamkos will need, especially if we bring back Kane too. Would love to have one of them but both of them won’t make us any faster, more physical, or better defensively. We would have a sweet PP though lol

The better questions to ask are whether Red Wings need him or can afford him. The only thing I remember from him this year are one-timers on the powerplay.

Stamkos is a luxury this team cant afford. Half the remaining cap space is going to Seider and Raymond, leaving very little fill gaps throughout the entire line up. We cant bring back all of Kane, Perron and Gostisbhere let alone adding someone like Stamkos into the mix. If we are going for a big FA we definitely need to go for RHD.

I think Stamkos would be amazing on a 3yr 8m deal. Just like Kane, Stamkos can teach our youngsters so much that his value will be more than the goals he will get.

I live in Tampa, they absolutely positively plan on re-signing Stamkos. McDonah doesnt change that. They believe Stankos will sign on the lower end of his worth

What do these guys (Kane & Stamkos) bring to the Wings form a defense and physical presence? Probably very little & their ages and contract expectations will hurt the team in the long run. If the Wings are going to go after a big free agent, they should go after Reinhart. Ray

No team is taking into consideration he has played with mostly same lineages for 10 seasons. They all know what the other is going to do or where the next pass is coming from. You won't have that on any new team therefore not a 50 goal scorer anywhere else

To begin with, we all know that Raymond and Seider are priority signings. That's probably going to be north of $16m of cap space. I think it's delusional to think the Wings could then sign both Stamkos and Kane. Stamkos will be too expensive and too long term. Kane? Maybe. Depends if he will chase the money and take a more lucritive offer from another team (Buffalo). Stevie Y will not overpay for any FA. It's probably best to keep the team chemistry and resign Sprong (maybe $2.4m, Maata $3m) and Gostisbehere (56 points/29PPP), who may command a bigger contract somewhere else. But I think the Ghost has found a home in Detroit and may take a discount contract to stay put. As to the goaltending, no doubt Lyon got overworked but proved he can be a very good goalie. Husso? Hard to say, he was hot and cold but also injured. Reimer? Probably gone. Cossa and Augustine are unproven for NHL level play.
