We're now in an era that supports feminism and challenges gender stereotypes, especially through movies. Do all women dream of fairytale romances and finding true love? Should women even be seeking relationships? All of this is what the film 'Before Sunrise' explores.
We've seen thousands and thousands of movies centered around a woman falling head over heels for a man. Recent discourse suggests that this is an anti-feminist message to be sending. The film 'Before Sunrise' is a beautiful story of two strangers, Celina and Jesse, who meet and instantly have chemistry. Celine is a very traditionally feminine character, but she raises the question of what femininity and feminism look like. She questions how she can be a strong example of independence while also seeking love. And by this, she serves as the perfect example of how feminism is much more than expectations and stereotypes, it's about choice.
