Should You Actually Buy the LEGO X-Mansion??

I have been waiting for the X-Mansion set for years, and while it looks amazing, the mansion should have been bigger, in depth, and width. There should have been an extra layer underneath a makeshift hill on the bottom. This layer would have been useful for Cerebro, the lab, a meeting room, and the danger room (with the danger room, going up to ground level).Ground level should have had an entrance, a lift to the bottom layer, a staircase, and 2 classrooms. The top layer should have had Prof. X's office, and 2 or 3 bedrooms. Then the roof of the building should have included Storm's greenhouse. I also would have made it so we could get future sets that could be combined with this set, which would include more X-Men, Sentinels, and more villains.

yeah I agree, especially if this was story book style so the danger wing room would open up and have hinged platforms to expand it a lot.

@@sakugabuilds I am a castle fan, but themes like this are interesting... I think either Lego needs to really make it a 500 set with that much value then is worth it more than a half complete set that may not get the companion sets. I got the Lions knight castle for instance and it does serve well enough on its own, but its been rare to get companion sets so its not as balanced as it could be.... for instance this only having magneto as a villan is rather flat and lacking dynamic expression. There could have been a armored jeep and car with some future cop like men to (control the sentinel faction) and some students and that would have added another 2 factions of dynamic play value. This looks too much like a modular and that makes it more about display and that makes it worth way less than the value. They could have taken that value and focused on play and it would have been worth it even if incomplete.

My biggest problem is that Professor X is just Lex Luthor in a wheelchair, he really needed a different head instead of the one that Lex always uses

I love this set but 2 things that upset me is that the Daily Bugle for same price range had 15 more figures if I remember correctly and then the museum modular has 1000 more pieces for 30 bucks less and that’s truly kind of a slap in the face on both parts by Lego but I will still buy it

I love the set but it is still a horrible value when you compare it to the Daily Bugle 15 more figure and almost 700 more pieces for only $20 more than mansion. Also Professor X is literally the Michael Scott minifig with a Lex Luther head.

I love how they built the model with all unique building techniques used in this set and the minifigures are just impressive i love the build ive been waiting for years for the xmansion set i can't wait to build it on November 4th

I know Lego won’t, but wouldn’t it be awesome if they added some surprise x-men like how they used to add bonus figures to sets? Maybe even something in the instructions that says “we’re trying to make up for the fact that we haven’t included many X-men in the past. Surprise” and they have Nightcrawler, Jubilee, colossus, morph

That would be way too cool and generous. At this point we can only hope that they go all in on x-men after seeing how popular they are since there are just way too many amazing characters to collect.

For me the only way I think I would end up buying it would be if it were to get the same treatment as the Sanctum. I managed to get a fairly good deal for £150 so I’m hoping I could do the same for this set (probably about 150-200 would be my limit for this set)

So excited for this set, but my complaint about most of the marvel line so not enough villains. A hero Ian only as good as his villains allow them to be. Give us more mutants but hoping this set does well and we will get more characters in the future.

The better question is... Can you afford the X-Mansion? While i'm normally against this sort of thing. It would probably be better to just buy the figures separately or wait for them to come to cheaper sets, which they usually do.

The concept is great and should be a must have legacy set but I am just not a fan of having to dismantle the building to access it. That is for modular buildings that are close to one another and story book is the best option for a large one and all theme, for a set like this it should have been a double ended story book style , so that when the plain outside opens up a vibrant and extremely detailed (almost its best display intention) interior brings it all to life. Even if more of a vignette is still better seen and played than having to separate everything, that is pure display and a big hit to the play value to me. If budgets of pieces were similar to lego branded themes I would have been to use that extra 1000 parts to raise the whole thing up several few studs like its on a hill for more prominence and also so that the interior can give the illusion of a basement. Then the danger room could be a opened up side wing of the mansion that could have hinged platforms and be much more interactive and spacious. Then the other side could have a the proper cerebro and lab, with the interior being rather slim with more focus to the X men HQ part. More details are needed such as another bike for cyclops? and some ice formations for iceman. More minis even from students to more villains would be really appreciated in such a price. To me this seems like a play to city fans to get a chateau style building and sell off the minis. Then It would be a must have... now I think I can explain to any future generation the reasons I did not spend the huge amount of money on it and be understood. But I am bias to lego castle as that is all I can afford... if lego were more affordable I would get all these big sets. This would be tons of fun I am sure. The characters are done well enough for me and I do like the sentinel. Its just a wonder to what kinds of expansions they will develop, and the prices are a bit taxed for this series. Variety is key... no one needs 15 wolverines 8 magnetos and 4 rogues and 1 jean grey..... peace thanks for listening

Wow that would be super cool! Definitely so hard to choose where to prioritize Lego spending nowadays. I don’t know why but it feels like a single set costs as much as entire waves used to. Hopefully they make more castle stuff that you’d be into! There have definitely been some great sets in that theme recently.

@@Danielewa.builds What they have produced for castle has been nothing short of astonishing. They really got it right with the castle. I think its the greatest LEGO set they ever made in balanced terms of theme appeal, big size and beautiful, 4 factions of minis and animals for fun for all ages and sexes. Superb play value, brick weight/ count value. Its like the perfect set. I have my theories but I think it sold too well... and that is why they are slow to make small sets... majority of people lego budget will flow from other sources.... I hope it ain't so. I like the idea of brick link sets but seeing so many castle ones go there instead of being upgraded to mass sets is sad as so many would like to enjoy these things. Even though the castle was quite expensive it felt worth it, and I am ok with great big sets but lego really needs to add more accessories and minis... like the daily bugle, this set needed another little side build... some students, a police armored car 2 cops and chief, ice structures for iceman, and then I would be really tempted to get it even at higher cost. this one just isn't for me, the rooms are too cramped and the outside is plain so doesn't win me on either. I was thinking it would be more like the batcave but the outside looked like a mansion.

Do modulars like these ever go on sale? I feel like they release, and then they almost immediately go out of stock. Then, online websites and scalpers start selling them for quadruple the price. But I have never, ever heard about things like this going on sale. And if they did, it probably wouldn't be by much.

That’s reallly hard to say right now. I would have to build the X-mansion first to give an educated answer. The Avengers Tower is my favorite Lego set of all time, so it would be hard to surpass that 😫

depends whether you like the avengers or x-men better. Personally i like the x-men better but the avengers tower is a much more grand eye catching display piece so i would go with that. It does have a pretty hefty price but id say it’s 100% worth it

It's ok but for that price it should have more to offer like the Wolverine, Storm and Beast from the marvel minifigure series 2 and the figures don't have enough detail and legos colors unfortunately don't look the same most of the times. I know you guys will make points about why I'm wrong but other companies do it better like MEGA and Blue brixx.

Im sry but the figures are ass. 4 of them are reuses and the five new ones dont even have dual molding or special printing. The build is nice, but not worth this insane price tag.
