i've had my fair share of JDM goodness. Such as, Toyota Chaser, Toyota Aristo. Brilliant cars! I would probably try one of these, as all the JDM heroes of yestyyear are all going to America at a disgusting eye wateringly high price. I got an aristo for 8k and sold it 3 year later for 7k. I got the Chaser for 6.5k and sold it for 6k, 3 years later. I would never pay 45k for a supra that I could have gotten before COVID for 6k! The prices may come back to normality...but I highly doubt it. Thanks AMERICA. YOU ARE GREAT, AGAIN!

I live in Kenya and own the smaller 4GR engine Mark X. I pretty much agree that the car is great. I've had it for 5 years after buying it used. Clocked just about 40k kms and it is reliable, fast (by Kenyan standards), comfortable and because it shares many mechanical components with other models, it is relatively inexpensive to keep running. The interior is very boring but that means fewer things to go wrong. If you live somewhere with good roads it's a blast to drive. Thanks for the video.

I recently bought a 2008 Toyota Crown Athlete for my son and my god - the condition on the thing is ridiculous. It's in better condition than our 2 year old Model Y! Toyota know how to build cars, but even more amazingly given most Japanese don't have enclosed car parks, the Japanese know how to look after their cars. Has the same motor as the Mark X and boy does it boogie once you get it going.

I own the first version of Mark X (2005 model 300G). I have had it for a while now and because mine got older (turning 20 years old), I decided to go for a full restoration on mine, from powertrain to electricals and exterior paint and interior as well. My build is going really well, 2 months into it. But, one thing I must say, I just recently put a new motor in it but, even the original motor was running perfectly smoke with the exception of some smoke out the exhaust. But, its a testament to toyota's engineering. The original motor working smoothly even after 20 years of service. The motor in mine is 3GR-FSE 3.0 liter. Its a really fun and reliable car to drive around. There are really cool body kits for these cars out there.

I own the 2012 Mark X with 2.5 4GR-FSE for the past 5 years and it is such a good balance between sporty and luxury. Yes the interior kinda looks a bit bland but it feels homy and comfortable. No complain about the noise in the cabin. Eventhough i installed Tein Flex Z coilover, the ride is still comfortable for a long journey (on the balance damping setting between hard and soft). When driving spiritedly, the front of the car feels planted but i still feel a bit of bodyroll in the middle and the back even with coilover, but still a fun car to drive and never got bored from driving it. My complain is that the brakes on the 2.5 is only 1 big piston caliper on the front and i feel the brakes does not keep up with the weight of the car. The interior issues with Mark X from some Indonesian owner mostly from cracked AC grill on the front dashboard. For maintenance, just change your engine oil, trans fluid and diff fluid regularly.

On paper they're a great package but things are rare for a reason, there's 11 currently on carsales nationally - there's no bad reviews on them because they'd be in Japanese on Japanese forums. And the pricing is like $20k for a 2013 model, I get they're a bit sporty but are you really gonna sport it more than an aurion? Last supercharged version insaw for sale was asking around 50 so I'd imagine that's some optimistic pricing claimed as well.

ReDriven seems to have a thing against small storage compartments to the right of the steering wheel. For me & my wife, these are super practical & we have really missed them in cars which haven’t featured them. We mostly use them to store breath mints & lip balm - both things which both of us use frequently in our garlic-loving dry-climate lifestyles! 😂 we have legitimately regretted purchasing cars which have lacked such storage cubbies! (VAG products have been a favourite, partially for this reason) As a side note: sounds like a Mark X would suit us reasonably well if it comes in a wagon… does it?
