Should You Buy Siralim Ultimate? | Will You Enjoy it?

Today's video is an overview of what exactly the Siralim Franchise is and isn't and how it plays in general. This will tie into whether or not you'll enjoy this type of game, as it's not your typical monster taming rpg. That said, I think Siralim Ultimate is actually a really cool game with a ton of amazing mechanics and is a true master at what it does.

I've only just started this game with about 30 hours so far and I can already tell I'll pour a few hundred into it easily over time. Very good loop for serious grinding or more casual play by doing a dungeon or two at a time. Great game with endless possibilities. Great video too. Thanks for showing more people this wonderful gem.

I've been a fan of Siralim since the second game. It fulfils my need for pure mechanics and simple gameplay loop to a T. It's a perfect "sit back, grind and listen to a podcast" game for me at the end of a long day. I tend to summarize it as "Dragon Warrior Monsters, but edgier". Ultimate in particular also finally adresses my biggest issue with the game series - I could never outright recommend it because the games just weren't that pretty. Ultimate, though, has some actual visual design to its menus and text, which is GREAT to supplement the wealth of mechanics. It also has genuinely pretty creature artwork for once that really makes me *want* some creatures just for their looks. In previous installments, the quality of sprites would vary wildly, with some looking flat and formless and others having great shading and 3-dimensional feel. In Ultimate, so far, every creature looked great - and that's including the old ones too; every single creature seems to have gotten a visual overhaul. I love it.

I've put an embarrassing amount of time into Siralim Ultimate, over 500 hours. It feels like there is a playstyle to satisfy every kind of turn based system you could think of, and most of them are fairly unique. The only thing it lacks is multiplayer, but if you love dreaming up teams and executing a combo that can surmount any enemy that comes up against you, you'll love the game, IMO.

One of Siralim Ultimate's good point is that it can be as deep or as simple as you want it to be. You can grind in the game really hard or play casually and still enjoy the game. There isn't really a lot of monster catching part, the vast majority of monsters can be summoned as soon as you beat them in battle and clear the stage. Only monsters in God shops, Godspawns, Avatars and special monsters really require some grinding. You don't even need them unless your specific build requires it. This game is pretty much about options with teambuilding. I enjoy this game a lot

Having enjoyed the heck out of Siralim 3 (I did a video on my experience with that game last year), I'm really looking forward to Siralim Ultimate. I need a good grind game in my life, and bonus points if it's also a mon' game.

I put about 300 hours into Siralim 3, Ultimate is basically meant to be the final Siralim game and it'll be updated for as long as Zack feels like it. Class/Team comps are huge, if you like theorycrafting you'll love it.

I've put 1 million hours into Siralim Ultimate. I have fused to my chair. Rather, I should say, I haven't so much fused to my chair as the shell that was formerly my body has fused to the chair, while the ghost that was once in the shell crawled out like an ectoplasmic slug, pulling itslef toward the PC and converting the slimey substance into 1s and 0s so that I never have to be not playing Siralim Ultimate.

@@niedas3426 yeah and boy was it a long wait indeed. But sadly it has performance issues at late game when you build your base and all. Things starts to slowdown according to someone that cross transfered their PC save to the switch. Which is a bummer

That sounds like something I would enjoy. I 100% DWM back in the day with hundreds of hours and even bought a second copy, so that I would not have to delete my beloved monsters to start a new file. But I'll wait for the Switch released. Bought Monster Crown on Steam and even though I love that game I play it so rarely. Not big on PC gaming.

Lucky for you, the previous game Siralim 3 is available for the Switch. Doesn't have as much content as Siralim Ultimate (because Ultimate is a crazy combination of everything the series has done so far), but it will still last you a long time.

It's definitely an acquired taste, but dang it tastes pretty good if you get past the 16bit visuals and the crazy story. It has a very good feel of crafting a great team and discovering/exploiting different combos.

You cannot properly see your monsters while fighting. That's a deal breaker... Aesthetics are crucial for me. It's a pity since the designs themselves are cool.

That was always one of my criticisms of it too. I hate when games do the first-person battle thing. They remove a lot of the personality from the game.

actually that's one thing I really didn't like about DWM either. I was actually planning on making a video titled something like "I HATE it when Mongames do this". talking about games that hide the player monsters. I get why this can be offputting for some.

I wish we got a better view of our monsters in combat too. I can't get into monster tamer games that are strictly first-person, because what's the point of collecting cool monsters if I can't even see them? Thankfully, being able to see your whole team following you in the overworld at all times is enough to make up for the shrunken battle sprites in Siralim, at least for me. I'm one of the artists who worked on the game and I went out of my way to make overworld sprites for my creatures as detailed and visually appealing as possible.

@@UnagioLucio Kudos for the art of the game. The overworld sprites are nice, but aren't nearly enough for me, sadly... Combat is the most important mechanic of the game and it's when you actually use your monsters and get to see them in action - the problem is you don't get to actually "see" them, other than static icons which are like five times smaller than the enemies.

It sounds really good but i dislike the graphics it even looks worse than Siralim 3, i really like Pixel art games like Chrono Trigger from the actually 90s this is 2021 and looks like this... no nice shadowing, move animations, textures,etc etc etc

Not sure why ppl always bring up the year when they see a game that has graphics they don't like. The year is irrelevant. The graphics are fine lol. It can be the year 3000 and they'll still be fine. Clearly you don't like pixel art games as much as you think if you're complaining. Dunno why you bring up someone as irrelevant as the year tho.
