My brain just can't handle them, even if I know rationally they wont harm me, just having them scutter around causes me to go into high alert.

Just don't squeeze them or put any pressure on them because they will bite. But as long as you don't do those 2 things, you should not Get bitten. Cause I own 3 blue spiders, and I've never been bitten plus 4 more brown recluse. And I've never been bitten yet.

Huntsman spiders actually cause the most deaths! Not from their bites; but their fondness for hiding under the sun visor in cars. So, when you're driving down the motorway at 70mph, you pull the visor down, and a massive spider drops onto your lap...

I remember a few years ago a huntsman scared the c__p out of a woman at a set of traffic lights in Sydney. The bloke in the car behind her got a rolled up newspaper and was trying to beat the aforementioned hunstman into submission, while the lady kept screaming... a bloke in a third car heard the screams, saw the guy swinging the paper, and thought he was attacking the the lady, so laid into the first bloke... so yes, hunstman spiders are dangerous, but more for the chaos they cause than their bite!

I live on the coast of NSW and have encountered the Red Back, Funnel Web and Huntsman in my 73 years. Red Back's will be found in dark or secluded places like under the toilet seat....I've never seen one there even though we had outside toilets for a few years. Under the lip of flower pots or concrete overhangs like steps or rockeries. They are far less common in well established areas where yards are kept tidy. I had a Funnel Web walking around under my chair one night and a mate sitting opposite told me. I just laughed as it was party time, then when I heard him laugh and say "I'm fair dinkum" I realised I had better look and sure enough the bugger was about 24" away from my legs and a touch cranky!! Re Huntsman's many people I know have no issue when they find one roaming the walls of the rooms, they often get names. We do likewise but I have to chase them off somewhere else when you see them on the ceiling above the bed, and they can get BIG, that's too much for me. You will see them for days then they are gone. Love your vids take care and all the best from the land of the Desert Dingo. I have three pure gorgeous desert dingoes genetically pure. Look up Sandy genome 2.. that's my girl.

Ive kept huntsman spiders, they have a lovely chill personality. They will require repeated, insistent provokation to strike, most are bluffs, and theyre otherwise so gentle that my wild caught adult lady could eat and drink from my fingers. Missing you, socks. You were a beautiful lady ♡♡

Love when you a video on spider's. Spider's are my favorite arachnids and little critters on this earth. I've had different species of Tarantulas as pets and i got many of my family members over their fear of spider's with my Tarantulas. Jack thank you as always for another great educational experience and awesome footage of our little friends. Have a great day my friend and stay safe out there....till next time take care and stay blessed.

My missus' fear of spiders is, to me, really funny. A few years ago, just before christmas, I caught a large, female house spider _(I'm from the UK, so it's no threat.)._ I picked it up upon hearing the missus' scream from the lounge. I said as I was taking it to the front door to release it, _"I'm going to put the spider in the hallway then go up and wrap up your Christmas presents. So no sneaking up the stairs as the spider will be there."_ I wrapped the presents and about 2 hours later, as I was watching some videos, I heard a plaintive cry of help from downstairs. I went down. The missus in the lounge looking worried, was desperate for the loo but was too scared to come out of the lounge as she believed I had left the spider was there. 🤔😲 😅🤣😂

I live in Victoria and we used to have red backs in our out house (prior to sewage being rolled out ca. 1960. Never got bitten. We also often crossed paths with tiger snakes on the way to the outhouse, which is why we had a cat we let out during that foray. All of my early experiences with huntsmen was finding them under the bark of various trees and in later years we had them coming into the house looking for food. We usually let them wander around for a few days because they clean up cockroaches and such. Then we would put them out on this big tree outside. The one exception was if they made their way into our bedroom, because I never fancied the idea of one dropping onto my pillow over night. Then they would be evacuated immediately. Re funnel webs, I have red that they can bite through a finger nail.

As someone who is most definitely NOT arachnophobic - although I'm not going to say that walking through a large web in the forest doesn't creep me out - the Sydney Funnel-web spider is a full-on "nope" for me (WAY more than a tarantula or even a black-widow)!

Same opinion here from Texas on the positives of house spiders until... caution they are in the food chain too. I was aleep at 1am a week ago. I slapped and grabbed it as it traversed across my neck. It was only doing its thing though, but it hurt so bad. Spider wasp - Priocnemis oregona

There's debate as to the danger posed by a Huntsman's bite - especially since there are more than 1000 species of them! They won't kill you though and they're said to be extremely passive spiders unless guarding their egg sacs.
@markmadman25 ай бұрын
Hmm having grown up in Sydney I ,my neighbours and many folks we know would be far more aware of what these spider's (that we see regularly) can do. The funnel webs we get in and aound our pool would actively try and have a go at you once its seen you within a few feet. Red backs are everywhere especially around older buildings with fibro or tin. Huntsmans are attracted indoors and dinner plate size ones whilst having a painful bite usually leave people alone. No mention the white tip spider who is up there on the danger list with debilitating flesh eating venom in certain cases who likes to hide under roof tiles ect
@ExarchGaming2 ай бұрын
i understand most of them rationally won't hurt me, but the fear I have isn't rational. It's purely primal and it doesn't even matter the size (though bigger ones do cause a larger effect, up to a certain point. like wolf spiders are the worst of the worst for me, even right now i'm shuddering straight from the core of my body at the thought.)

This is sort of incorrect about huntsman spiders. I knew someone who was biten by one. He had to have almost all his glads removed. They carry bacteria on their fangs that can cause lots of issues

Hi Jack great show as always hey i just learned of a few of the snakes over in Australia that are venoms and i never heard anybody talk about them one was the hard scaled snake i can't remember the others but could you do a video about them? they say that a lot of the snakes are killed because they think its one of the other bad ones and when people are bitten by them they blame the ones they always talk about. also can you give me a shout out for bring this to you if you do a video about them? thanks my friend.
@Ducatirati5 ай бұрын
Hey Joey, just read what you said , Australia have some extremely venonous snakes , like The Inland Taipan Oxyuranus Microlepidotus small scale Deadliest snake on earth, then the Eastern Brown PsudonajaTextillis 2nd deadliest, / Western Desert Taipan Oxyuranus Temporalis 3rd deadliest, / Coastal Taipan Oxyuranus Scutellatus 4th deadliest, / Tiger snake Notechis Sculatus 5th deadliest snake, / Common ,/Rough Scaled Death Adder Acanthophis Antarcticus fastest striking snake on earth and 6th deadliest , actually only real worry is the Eastern Brown large distribution, 60%bites , but the Tiger gets a few as does the Coastal I hope that enlightens you , cheers. Joey

Unless you're allergic, nothing. Swollen and itchy maybe but not likely and not serious.

Yes they are. If u mishandle them in the slightest they will bite. If u grab them by accident they will bite. If u dont know its there and put any pressure on it, it will bite!! Ur buddy was bitten by the red widow and hes a professional. Obviously if u handle them very carefully ur most likely ok but thats not the case for normal people 98% of the time

Does the fact the redback is an old world have anything to do with his venom being more potent than the new worlds? Like how oldworld Tarantulas have a stronger venom more defensive but don't kick hair like new worlds Is there a super power new world widow spiders have that redback don't?
@BugsandBiology5 ай бұрын
Old world vs New world only really pertains to tarantulas when it comes to differences in venom potency.
