I got it and it was worth it, I compared it to my Stars without Number as I always do with star finder, it’s different and that’s what I wanted

I also have stars without number, i thibk the base of that game is good. Definitely an older style of play where you need dedicated roles, tank healer ect. But lots of good tools there as well

Just found you through Tabletop dungeoneers. I recently bought most of the PDFs for Stafinder and am thinking of running a game. I know I don't know enough about the system yet but trying to get fully immersed. I know 3.5 like the back of my hand and hope that most core rules are similar. I know there are differences but so far I like most of it. This book looks interesting. I don't really know anyone who plays this system and while I plan to watch more of your videos in hopes of finding some easy breakdown of things I was wondering if I could pick your brain on a few topics I might be not fully understanding.

Yessss. The technology aspect is my favorite part of Starfinder and this book will probably be my second favorite after GEM. Good video as always :) I agree with you about Mecha being meh. I'm more interested in the technology in daily life stuff although I do think they could make a fun idea as an enemy

Big Stompy Robutts notwithstanding, I was NOT expecting the expanded vehicle rules, and am all the happier fortheir inclusion. Two of my regular players are massive gear heads and love car customization, so this really sold them even more on Starfinder

I have a DM whos running an endless dungeon game with starfinder and there's going to be a real steel/gundam fighters style arena in it. I'd love to see what you think of the mech combat and customization details and how you'd do things diffrent or better with HB rules.

I really want to dive into them, im going to look at doing some joint work with DSC league as they have really taken to all the vehicle mechanics and do some really neat work with them.

I'm surprised the 'Shops' section didn't give some kind of 'perk' for doing business at each shop, like how in the SOM each ship manufacturer has a perk to the starships they make (maybe a discount on certain types/categories of items for each shop?). Overall I like it, and my very first thought on learning of the Nanocyte was to play one of the Spathinae race from Alien Archive (the 'collective insect hive' species that shapes into a humanoid form). I would even allow a player to give the race the 'Technological' subtype, to make it a true 'Nanite' being ^_^ An aside: One item I would love for Paizo to make (but I'm sure they wont): One product that collects ALL the various Class options into one book. For example: You have the Base Solarian in the Core Rulebook, but you want to play a "Lunar" focused Solarian, you have to look in.....some other book (literally could not remember which source book, or maybe adventure path, its in). I know you can probably find it all in one place online, but I'm old fashioned, and like a physical book in my hands (for rulebooks anyway, I've gotten used to just the .pdf files for the Adventure Paths) Also, my slight Anime Nerd showing here: Technically, they don't give us rules for 'Evangelion Style' mechs.....ummm......Spoilers? ^_^ I like that rule addition because now, if the GM and Players want to, they can do an entire 'Pacific Rim' style campaign using Starfinder rules, without necessarily having to use the Starfinder setting (Reminds me a lot of the 'Mecha Crusade' rules from the old D20 Modern/Future era, a set of rules I still have nostalgia for, no matter how clunky they were).

Let's not forget Dynamic Hacking! You didn't mentioned why you gave it 4/5 Stars; was it due to less magic options? That's coming with Galactic Magic. I would give it 5/5 stars for the content it was striving to address, while 4.5/5 for the lesser artwork compared to the artwork in SF books prior to the Galaxy Exploration Manual.
@TheMapleTable3 жыл бұрын
The content was great, there are lots of optional systems that i feel add depth, mechs, dynamic hacking (i mentioned it but didn't go into detail) along with weapons and lore. All in all I was impressed with the book. I was not expecting magic at all since this obviously wasn't the focus. (no deductions there) but there are now so many systems, albeit optional, its Making the game become potentially a little bloated system wise. I expect similar results in galactic magic, but im also excited for its release.

"They have reality shows. They're awful but they exist." Ummm... Zo! alone made it quite clear that Paizo has a rather unhealthy obsession with reality television and social media celebrity. So I'm not surprised to hear they get mentioned... AGAIN. I wish they'd stop. But that's like expecting them to finally produce an adventure path that isn't utter rubbish. Not sure what to make of the "daily life" and tech write ups, going to have to wait until it shows up in my FLGS and read it for myself. Starfinder's main weakness has always been its setting.
@commiedeer3 жыл бұрын
Regarding the rest from what I've seen you and other reviewers cover: Classes: Yeah, "support tank" was the impression I got from the Nanocyte Playtest with everything coming together to make the class a very meaty "Swiss Army Knife" class, looks like that's largely unchanged in the final printing. The additions sound reasonable enough for the Soldier and Operative. As for the Mystic, that's kind of the nature of the beast with a tech supplement. Solarian sounds cool. Sounds like the Mon-I mean Vanguard gets some Gun-Fu. But the Witchwarper additions just reinforce the idea that both the class and its designer are total douchebags (yes, I hate that class and NO I am not letting it go,) the Mechanic additions look they are heavily dependent on whether or not you use the new rules for vehicles and demolitions (although the additional drone chassis sound nice,) and I sincerely hope the Technomancer gets more then what you described. Lastly, regarding the Biohacker... thank God. We've needed a healer other then the Mystic for a while now. And with low-magic settings like Grimmerspace on the horizon, being able to squeeze more heals out of a tech-based class is always welcome. Stores: See my comment on the Pact Worlds setting being Starfinder's weak point. The Lore is only really useful if you like the setting. For me, it grossly exceeds the "I might as well create my own setting" threshold. Equipment: Lots of interesting stuff but I question the practicality of at least some of it. But that's always something I've had against Paizo's foray into science fiction, too many toys and not enough tools.
