@@matthias_ajc d1 is a high level however it varies greatly depending on what conference you’re playing in. If you’re in the acc or big10 you’re playing against national team players and usl/USL1 players. If you’re playing in lower divisions you still have a bunch of ballers but it’s not as consistent as at those higher conferences. However all teams play across conferences so you potentially can play against anybody

Best way for young players to get 'stronger' isn't through strength training. Work on your balance on both legs, this will build muscle while making you more stable. Messi isn't a bodybuilder but can hold off challenges because of the way he can balance himself properly while on the move to hold off and react to barges

@@goldennuggets123 Great point on balance. Youth athletes look athletic when they have good balance. Most strength training programs focus on the limbs and upper torso while balance comes from core and fine motor control in the feet.

Q&A: What do you think is the most overlooked aspect of fitness that you believe is crucial in pursuing a professional career?
@CoachOlali
@CoachOlali 2 жыл бұрын
This is a great question. I personally think that at most levels, the most overlooked aspect of fitness is mile runs or long distance running. I used to make this same mistake. I used to think it was all about short sprints that simulate the majority of movements in a game. But it wasn't until my thirties that I started to incorporate mile running in my fitness sessions AFTER i did the short sprinting. This helped me to boost my endurance when I was tired and I would last longer than players even younger than me late in the game, especially in overtime

Now i'm 28 and i play in an amateur team (i had some bad ankle injury, one surgery in 2016, and the second surgery cooming in September). How is important for a pro player have some "amateur features/characteristics" for exaple play for fun, enjoy the dressing room atmosphere and your teammate, don't be obsessed with the result etc...and how is important for an amateur player have some "pro feature/characteristic" like train hard, eat and sleep good, do some extra wourkout in the gym or individually on the field etc ??? Thanks if you read me, good luck for your new opportunity in the new team and i hope one day you will come to playe here in Italy!!!!! 🍕🍝

First, don't be in your head. Injuries are going to happen. I am amateur player and suffer a partial mcl tear but it is what it is. When it happened the first thing I did was to get an MRI to see the extent of the injury. I didn't think the worst. I had a wait and see attitude. Once I found out how bad it was there was nothing I could do but wait till it is better. After 2 months, I am back to touching the ball and doing strengthening exercises. Always have a wait and see attitude. Being in your head all the time will make you miserable.

In my opinion, I think it's just changing your perspective on things. Some people get benched and think "i'm just not at this level" or "the coach doesn't like me" or "i deserve more opportunity". Others look at this same situation and think "I know with additional work, commitment, extra training, and coachability, I can start over anybody". I think it's realizing that with time, commitment, and a dedication to improve, that you can always get better and get a spot. I think you have to really internalize this and understand this on a deep level

Great question. You may want to speak with a trainer who has worked with footballers (soccer players). Weights can be good if done in the correct manner. Q&A: Obviously SAQ (speed, agility, quickness) work is important for all footballers regardless of position but do you feel certain players depending on position should spend more time on SAQ work and less with weights? If so, how do you think these players should balance SAQ and lifting?
@CoachOlali
@CoachOlali 2 жыл бұрын
Great question. I think it probably depends more on your style of play or the style you want to play. Example: players like Neymar and Di Maria are so skillful and quick that weights are not as critical. A player that holds the ball as a center forward may need more strength. if you are a wing back, bulkiness will probably be less useful, as endurance is more important. if you are a center mid or holding mid, bulking may help but it also depends on your style. Players like xavi and iniesta with the style they played did not need to rely on too many weights.

I want to ask this again because of Rubio who trains with you guys, and no disrespect but is it better to play in an environment where it won't challenge you that much because you are better than most of the players or is it better to just train on your own?

That's a very good question. I think it's always good to play with others but also train on your own extra if you can. playing with others can teach you a little bit about your sense of positiong and movement off the ball. if you can get the ball often even playing with lowere level players then your off the ball movement is really good. because this means that people with better skills will find you very easily

@CoachOlali

It's tough, even at the highest level. Unfortunately you just have to fight through it. But it's easier said than done. If it was possible to go inside a game and forget everything that happened and only think about the game in front of you, that would be the best solution. Because when you think you're in a slump, you start performing in a way that supports your thoughts and then you start justifying your poor play because you think you are in a slump

Q&A: I am an player currently in the service and want to have a career playing then coach after my time in what would be the best way in to the game at my age. Should I try for NPSL or UPSL ? Are my college years maybe at an NAIA school done ? Or should I go abroad and play in countries where ages aren’t a factor like Italy where before the service I had some success their before?

Q&A: do you believe that repeating the same drill for weeks is better than Changing drill every training session? (Ex doing one specific dribbling drill for a month until you master that drill)

I would say do a drill until you master it and it becomes too easy and then change

tons of pros do that, even at the highest level. I think it's more a thing of balance and not doing it too often

Is it possible to play in the USL2, UPSL or NPSL with no college experience. I’m 26 and play in a few leagues with former semi pro, college and high school players. I was wondering if it’s realistic to be able to play on any of these at my age. My conditioning is great and I feel that my technical ability has matched a collegiate/lower tier semi pro level. Thanks to anyone who responds 🙏🏼.

With UPSL and NPSL teams you simply go to their open tryouts. Most teams don't care about your age if you can play

I would say first of all don’t be afraid of them. If your Coach let’s you play against them then he believes that you are good enough. Other then that I would advise you to play as fast as possible especially if they are taller and stronger than you. Also try to include some strengthening exercises.

If you are 27 and have been playing amateur football, never really come close to playing at a high level (semipro/pro) is it too late then to try and get to that level ?

You have to work and play an insane amount of time to catch up. And you have to study the game like a mad man. I would never tell anyone it's too late
