Thank you for your service. Currently in between two worlds to join the marine reserve vs army reserve. I work for the postal service via civilian life but I wanted to become a marine out of sheer discipline I have yet to conquer within myself. Currently going back to school to study foreign languages and when I am finished I would like to go active duty maybe within the marine corps or transfer over to the army after or during my contract (if possible) still indecisive about the branches. The goal is to eventually allow my weekend job to transfer over into becoming my day to day job. I have been weary to ask these questions to a recruiter given that the wrong one will set me up for failure. Your channel has been a big help thus far among alot of others I’ve included in my researching.

Ian Iverson thanks man! yeah that's definitely something to consider, but imo time flies in the military and it's a once in a lifetime experience. Just make of the most out of where ever you end up. Good luck!

I have wanted to join the marines ever since i was a little kid. I went through meps during high school, but ended up taking a golf scholarship instead. I am 24 and have my degree. I am really considering joining the reserves, but I would probably be around 25 by the time I would go to Basic. I am fairly established in my job, and wanted to know if you think it is too late to join?
@SheldonLeeFit6 жыл бұрын
Hey man, I can relate because I actually was in the same exact position as you. To be honest, it isn’t too late to join (I’ve seen 28 year olds in bootcamp) but it does get harder to adjust when you’re older. You’re going to have people younger than you telling you what to do. Now, if you don’t have much of an ego, you’ll be just fine. But if you’re like me, it’s going to take some adjusting and you’re really going to have to want it. I was 20 when I went through basic and even that was tough... still regret not joining earlier. However, better late than never! Hope this helps.

Sheldon Lee ,. I really appreciate you responding to me. I have some work to do to get back in the same shape I was in college to even qualify to go to basic,but I will stay tuned on your channel for more videos. I can't wait for the next one to come out. Thanks again for the help

So if I’m in the reserves, I live at home and work(while doing school) and I drive or whatever to the nearest base for my ‘drill weekend’?

Have a question man, I have a daughter, but I'm not with the mom no more. Will my daughter still get the benefits of having a marine father? (I'm joining the marines as a reserves)

Hey man, gave the video a like for the squirrel. Nah, not really. Found your channel from your comment on Nick's video. Good info and words. Question- going into my third year at university. With the intention of getting accepted for OCS, would going reserves for the remainder of college be a good move until I get my degree in about 3 more years (going to be a super senior)? I know having the knowledge of how the corps works will help, but in terms of timing and probability.. would things work out well if my cards are played right?
@SheldonLeeFit7 жыл бұрын
Xavier Escalante thanks man. To answer your question, the Reserves while in college is a great way to earn some money on the side and familiarize yourself with the Corps before going the officer route. There are number of different programs for Enlisted to Officer and you should contact a recruiter for more information. Just bear in mind, being a Marine (Enlisted) will not give any competitive edge over a civilian applicant when you are applying all things considered. Also, prior enlisted officers do get paid more for their experience.

I'm currently 22 and I tried enlisting in Navy out of high school, but got medically denied by MEPS. I currently work in EMS and have no problems functioning with my past injuries. I want to move to a new state and start gearing towards law enforcement. I have also thought about about trying again with Marine reserves. Is it possible to able to try again without worrying about MEPS denying me again?

I am very interested in becoming part of the foreign language part of the service and an 0231 was the best mos that can fit my description or way of life right now as I have a baby due in a month and unsure if I’m willing to sacrifice going to DLA school for such a period of time after finishing combat and boot camp. When or if anyone has the time for tips or help it would be appreciated. It’s one thing being in the military and it’s another being able to earn the title such as yourself.

Is it possible to be an intelligence related reserve marine or does it have to be active duty? I am not sure cuz i saw jobs like force recon that can't be reserves.
@elijahbradford82544 жыл бұрын
That’s actually incorrect. There are reserve recon units.
@destinykomar62454 жыл бұрын
So I’m going to be enlisting but one of my biggest questions was were you able to choose the state you reserved in?

If i am planning on joining the marine reserves and coming back to my town to be a police officer will it work for me?
@SheldonLeeFit7 жыл бұрын
Franly Romero there are many people at my Reserves unit that have done this. A career in law enforcement and the military reserves go very well together and it's very common. Best of luck!

@Darthvhagar7 жыл бұрын
I know it varies per unit. How is PT usually performed with reserves?
@SheldonLeeFit7 жыл бұрын
bryan baha my unit rarely ever does PT. There's too much actual work to do during drill weekends, but we have the PFT and the CFT annually and that means you should be doing PT during your off time.
@Darthvhagar7 жыл бұрын
It seems ideal to me. I hated being under people that did not have the same training ideals as I did, putting it the nice way. Having that freedom for me personally would benefit me. Thanks for your input bro.
@honesttomato48456 жыл бұрын
can you change your mos in the marine reserves?
@nbtd94367 жыл бұрын
Not sure if you'd know but I'm told after 31 days of being "active" i would receive housing while being a reserve. What does that mean?
