Let's not forget antivenom consideration, in case one gets bit. I heard vials of them can be expensive, especially for exotic species.
@OlympusReptiles3 жыл бұрын
Actually, exotic is much cheaper. It is knowing where some is located. Crofab (for all american pit vipers) is extremely expensive.

I love and respect the amazing Gaboon Viper. If one is properly trained in venomous skills, I think keeping them is enjoyable. Viper Keeper has a great channel. I keep Blood Pythons, Boas, Sumatran Pythons, Ball Pythons two, of which are almost 16 years old. This was an interesting discussion.

I love viperkeepers collection, but he keeps his animals in disgusting conditions and constantly makes excuses as to why it's okay to have algae in the water bowls and damn near more poop than substrate in their enclosures hes a very lazy keeper

I love the venomous species but also I don’t like the attitude of “you’re not a real keeper unless” type attitude. If you love the animal and are passionate about working with the species and you are experienced I say go for it. But you better know what you are doing. Zero room for mistakes with hots.

When your family tells you something like you are foolish/stupid, you are either on the right track or you have veered so far off course that you won't see it in the moment. Families try to see the pragmatism is decisions for the safety. If you have the passion and you see the station ahead, just keep going. But like Matt said, if you have a developing family then it's a whole other game. Not gonna throw stupid "Yeehaw, you do you!" platitudes. You know what's going to work. If you don't, Matt and people like him are the ones to ask when targeting your hobby/passion. They been through the rough stuff. Learn from them. Mistakes cost money you don't want to spend. And if you have whimsical hedge fund yacht money to spend, then spend it in the hobby because lord knows the rest of us are on the other dirtier busted up ship that could sink any day. Don't let your dreams be dreams! Diatribe over.

I must have missed it, but Lilith 2.0? What happened to the first Lilith? Also, I agree with Kurt. It’s not for me. Good that you have the skills that you can keep a venomous snake. But they really aren’t for everyone.
@OlympusReptiles3 жыл бұрын
They are not for everyone. Unfortunately, she passed away. I think it was do to an infection from moisture. They hardly moved, and she kept the moisture locked in underneath her. Appeared to get an infection at the cloaca. Hard lesson to learn.
