Know a game you think I should cover? Let me know.
Bit of a labor of love, this video, so I hope you enjoy it. Red Orchestra 2 has been on semi-regular rotation since I was in like, middle school, so it definitely holds a place in my heart, and I hope we get a few more years out of it before it finishes its long ride into the sunset. At release, the impressive immersiveness, the smooth gameplay, the challenging learning curve and hardcore nature of this game promised a bright future for the FPS genre.
In many ways we’ve reached that promised land, with so many new and varied titles for fans of hardcore FPS’s. But in equally many other ways, I feel that we’ve fallen short. The experience of playing Red Orchestra 2 has not been replicated. The intensity, the replayability, the mix of hardcore and casual gameplay - it has no equal.
The servers are still kicking for now, there’s usually one or two with a decent population, but it’s a little less each year. I hope to host some game nights via this channel soon where we can breathe life into this and other old gems, but in the meantime get your Eastern Front fix from a few of these cool resources below:
How to remove your HUD in RO2. I just scrolled down to “Remove the HUD except while T is pressed” and followed the directions from there.

Awesome blog I discovered while searching for the chapter photos. I had like a 3 hour window where I was supposed to be editing the video and instead I spent the entire time reading this dudes blog. I paid for his substack to read more articles. I cannot even remotely remember the last time I paid money to read something online. Highly reccomended. bigserge.substack.com/p/death...
Cool video showing some of the real life locations of RO2 based on an interview the creator did with a Tripwire employee. He goes into a lot of detail even comparing the windows and stuff from existing buildings, it’s pretty interesting. • Red Orchestra 2 Real L...
