At minus 44F, which is the vaporization point of propane, we don't have much to worry about until you're down there. I do like the idea of tank warmers, though. Probably won't need them in Texas.

Thanks for the heads up on propane lines tip. I did actually run a layer of R45 insulation around my small 20lb tanks. I'm kinda concerned about the line from the regular to the tank which is exposed I suppose I'll just cover with armour cell. I know what you mean about buffalo winters I used to truck the eastern seaboard for 20 yrs not all fun. What temp level should you start thinking about covering the propane tank. We're stationary full timers and have an 80 gal horizontal tank No one else in our park has theirs covered. We live in Idaho. The weather has been pretty mild this month. Thanks for sharing. Joyeaux Noel. 🎉

Rofl....keep em hot with a torch....not to mention the freezing point of lpg is -300 n some change...what can freeze is the regulator valve keep that covered...

The tank can freeze. The discharge causes the temp of the liquid to drop. This mostly happens when too much gas is used from a small tank. A good example is a jobsite heater with a bbq grill tank. Put that heater on high and soon the tank will be so cold the propane will cease vaporizing and the heater will go out.

I have a problem with my regulator freezing off during rainy or high humidity. Seems like all I can do is pour hot water on it to make it work which is a pain.

Keep your tanks warm? How to when they are outside in the cold ?

By covering them with a blanket.

Put a blanket or tarp around them, especially the one in use. That one can get ultra frosty as propane is being withdrawn and drop below the temperature critical to vaporize properly.

​@@projet2907 I'd say when ambient gets down in the 15 to low 20's range. That's when I moving blanket +tarp my 30 and 40 lb. tanks. I do not bother to tarp my one rig that uses a big 100 gal tank in the yard. It has done fine for us down to our record low so far. (9 deg F)
