For the first ten minutes, I thought that was a strippers pole in the back but it's just a sliding mirror lol!

Good to have you back, Eric! I've been attending The Animation Conference, and learning lots. Even did the Fast Track program, and got to pitch to a couple distributors. Thanks for all your info. It's definitely a big help!

Hey this is so helpful, thank you! I’m not sure if this is the right video to comment this on but: would you be able to discuss about sunset clauses? Like, having the rights of a IP transferred back to the original creator after the company doesn’t do anything with it for a long enough time.

I don't know too much about that. Sorry!

Thank you for posting! Very informative. I was wondering if you would happen to have a template for a Shopping Agreement. Thanks again!!

I do, but I'm sorry I can't share mine with you. I suggest that you work with a lawyer to get one for yourself or your company.

Wow, thank you so much! I just signed a two book publishing deal and Andrews McMeel Universal, remember when I said I did the kickstarter? I got a publishing deal from my manga!!! I'm going to try and make it into an American Anime. I wonder if I can talk to them about a shopping agreement to make it into a show or If I should pitch it after the the success of the manga? ( I hope they do very well) Since I have 100% of the dramatic rights, I've been pondering on my next steps on making my unlitmate dreams come true. Also, when I do announce this, I wonder if I'll possibly be approached. I've been thinking about doing a press release about it to several companies and I hope that it brings attention to what I'm creating and it garners interest. I figured since I got the deal, I should have some type of leverage.

What's the best way of approaching companies to acquire these deals? I understand relationships are key, but from s level 1 starter approach.. is it the cold call/email route?
@SurvivingAnimation4 жыл бұрын
The million dollar question is always, 'how do I get companies interested in my property.' The beginning of the answer is always to simply be successful in the marketplace. If that happens, the companies will approach you. So, first I'd say focus all your efforts on finding your audience and getting them involved in your story/characters/world. They will be your best marketing tool. But if you do cold contact companies to show your work - please review my 'Submission Release forms' video too!

@@SurvivingAnimation understood! Thanks for taking the time to respond 🙏 I've seen all of your videos! But yes, I'm doing a dual approach: building the fanbase (as much as possible in the age of Covid) but also identifying who's who and what's what that I need to speak with on an industry level!

Hi! I got an offer for a screenplay to get into a shopping agreement where the person wants 5% overall, 5% back end, and $2500 up front as a retainer. Is this normal? This agreement is with a very prominent Producer who happens to also be a lawyer. I don't have the $2500 stashed away. Do you think I could counter a higher percentage to lessen or completely waive the $2500 fee? If so, what would you suggest? Should I run from this deal, in total? Lbvs!

How would a person like myself get his property in front of the right studio
@SurvivingAnimation4 жыл бұрын
Well I don't know anything about you, so that's difficult to say. Also, when you say 'studio' do you mean buyer/distributor or do you mean 'company that can develop, produce, and sell?' There are different answers to each. Finally, it also depends on what kind of property that you're talking about (kids, pre-school, action, adult, comedy, etc). Sorry! But there are no easy answers to your question other than - make an incredible property and build a fan audience directly (publishing, KZbin, toys, etc) and then the buyers will come!
