I warrantied a 3070 ftw3 with EVGA earlier this month. The card would crash in demanding games and benchmarks. Problem was persistent across multiple systems. I provided info on the troubleshooting I'd done and had an approved RMA in less than 5 minutes over the phone. Sent the card out and had a replacement in a week. I've never had anything but awesome experiences with EVGA customer service.

IME over the last 7 years of using EVGA products, That's simply not how they conduct business. They've always been friendly and easy to deal with. I don't expect that to change just because they've ceased to do business with Nvidia. I fully expect them to honor any future warranty claims as they always have. Maybe 2 years from now getting a replacement won't be an option, but I expect they'll still have a resolution of some kind.

EVGA has the best customer support of any company I've ever dealt with - I once had a card that was years out of warranty and the fan stopped. I called tech support just to ask for the part number so I could order a replacement and the technician said "oh it's ok, I'll just overnight you one" on a 7 year old card. Sure enough, it showed up the next day, I've never bought any other make of card after that.

My GTX 970 was a FEW days past warranty period and one (i had 2) fan absolutely committed suicide by, I assume a spec of metal shavings got into the sealed fan and made so much noise and fan broke, I should have just asked instead of going to ebay and ordering 2 replacement fans with wires FAR too long but they work well just a little tetris bending. EVGA has done very well!

I wouldn't necessarily give EVGA a pass for not fixing it but to be honest that doesn't look like it would have been at all easy to diagnose even at by an EVGA tech. It was one of those wonderful rabbit hole repairs where everything keeps pointing to a new issue. Awesome job getting it back up and running though! Glad we users have somewhere to send GPUs too. I imagine the 4090s are going to come in too just because of the complexity and small PCB along with the high power limit. They seem to be more efficient than all of us had guessed but they still have a lot of power stages in a very small space.

With the rising prices of videocards, videocard repair seems like something which will be increasingly financially viable, especially because of how many cards have been used for mining over the past couple of years. I bought a used 3080 about a month and a half ago, which was most likely used for mining, but the fact that it was EVGA gave me a lot more peace of mind, because they are the only videocard brand in North America which officially supports transferable warranties (I've already got it registered to my EVGA account, and there's still over a year left on the warranty). I'm not going to lie, the fact that this is the last generation of EVGA cards made it a more enticing product for me. It's an EVGA FTW3 Ultra (looks like the same cooler as the 3090 in this video), and it was 770 CAD with shipping (about 580 USD). It also gives me some peace of mind to know that repair services like North West Repair exist.

EVGA has no trouble rebuilding cards and replacing every single component on the card, including the GPU. For their sponsored overclockers, they will even swap VRAM chips and the GPUs between cards to get better performance out of them when one card has really good VRAM and another has a really good GPU. To say they wouldn't RMA the card because it would need "rebuilding" or extensive work is absurd.

The tech who was supposed to be looking at my card dropped it and several other gpus flagrantly. When I got the denial, I went up to supervisor level and told them to review the email along with the video attached. Several days letter I got a new card (went from 670 to 680). With the following that stated they reviewed security footage to confirm if something was up. Sure enough the tech pushed 6 RMA gpus off his desk...mine and 5 others had denial for pcb damage.... EVGA had to replace all those gpus. Sometimes you have to just cover your ass. Techs are human and can act unprofessional.

You have a very even temper if this would take you a day. 1 - 2 hours and this card would go into a blender. Would not even get to the RAM never mind redoing the RAM 3 - 4 times.

well... evga shouldn't have rejected RMA for that dent really... but the fix... yeah, I think it's cheaper for them to replace the card than to go through the troubleshooting and part replacement like you. I did LMAO on the evga tech comments though. Dunno why, but I'm finding myself binge watching your repair videos. They're amazing!

There is a problem with the 3090's the rear memory cooks itself over time. People need to add heat sinks and fans to the rear memory to prevent this from happening. This is a design flaw with practically all 3090's. - I used small aluminum heat sinks and thermal adhesive to permanently affix them on the heat spreader directly above the rear memory - and I mounted a small fan on the rear of the card which assist in cooling. This solves that problem.

I have suspicion that EVGA engineer used theirs own specialized tools, found all that damage, and returned it with excuse just to avoid doing these repairs. Kinda reminds me how I left my pocketbook reader on sunlight on accident, and transparent glue around the screen turned to white. So I send it to warranty repair, and it ended in Poland, and Polish engineer returned it with words it was caused by a water... So I looked at VERY carefully for dust and other stuff between joints, and it was undeniable the reader wasn't even opened. If he opened it he'd see zero water damage inside. It was just a typical example of lying Pole. The alternative repair company that I asked wouldn't have time to do repair before warranty expiration, thus shop returned me money. Then I waited on a new model, which has touch screen and no way to tune sensitivity down. And then I tried to find and remove all small hairs that got stuck between cover and the screen and created a nice touch like interference. Can someone make reliable 10+'' e-ink reader for low price? (And I'd prefer user replaceable batteries.)

I sent them back. E VGA sent me 2 other cards. My original cards. Still broken. I did not buy another EVGA product for 10 years

Boy howdy this one sure was a doozy huh? Great diagnostics here. I was a little surprised you didn't test the MOSFETs before switching them out as that could've saved you a few minutes. Anyways, awesome repair dude. Soldering those memory chips looked like a PITA.

those are driver mosfets. how do you expect me to test them ? they are not shorted from 12v to GND pins, thats all the test i can do. If the internal driver is damaged, there is no way i can test it without powering it on to some test rig which i dont have.

@@northwestrepair can't you just check source to drain on each fet in diode mode? I haven't worked on GPUs in all fairness and I'm not that up on high and low side VRM MOSFETs. That'd be my first instinct though.

Ive actually bought a refurbished 3060 from EVGA. Arrived with no box labeling the graphics card, thought that was weird initially. Was thinking that since it was an refurb that it probably wasn't a big deal. Popped the card it, updated drivers and everything went to shit from there. Sent it back to EVGA and they claimed that it was a user error, and it 100% was not. It was definitely the card, since i replaced it with the previous 1060 and booted the computer and it worked. When i put the 3060 back in, the same things started happening. Weird flashing, slow down to 0 fps in video games, and a computer that just plain didn't work. I loved evga before that.

I just RMA'd a 2080 super due it flat out dying. Not picture out or anything. After less than 10 minutes on the phone with EVGA I had my RMA # and sent it back the next day. Being last Gen at the time they said they were unable to repair or replace the card. The very next day I got an email with a tracking number with my old card being sent back to me. When I opened it a brand new 2080ti was inside. I called to let them know that this wasn't my what I had and they said it was the replacement since they didn't have anymore supers. The best company in the GPU game and I miss them already
graphics card repair gone wrong and now i have to fix it
