I went from the S8 to the S9+ because I really wanted a bigger screen . The differences between the plus sizes is worth the money for the 9+ whereas all you got with the 8+ was screen and battery. The efficiency is cancelled out by the higher performance so on par battery is probably the best you could hope for.

jordan rausch . The speakers are night and day. I didn't mind the speakers on the S8 because it would move some sound to the ear piece if you partially blocked the speaker , so you did get stereo speakers (sort of) although to my recollection not one reviewer mentioned it. The S9 speakers sound really really good especially with Dolby Atmos enabled.

IN 2020. I would upgrade to s9 or preferably the s9+ if you don't have as much to spend on a phone. Refurbished is also an option and a great one as they have great return policies. The s9 and s9+ now has android 10 and I'd assume will get next years upgrade as a final upgrade. I switched from s8 to s9+ and it is a major difference due to UI updates and the extra 2 GB of ram.

I love my S8, and if I were buying now (and didn't already own any of those), I'd still go for the S8. I just like the colours and design more, and I've heard all over that the battery is slightly better. Since I don't really care about shooting video and all those camera features, I don't really see that I'd be getting much with S9 :)

It's a phone. It's going to lag overtime with unknown websites, games, and space being used without it being cleaned properly and some updates arent always good (how I feel personally)lol. S8 plus owner I noticed it in my replacements (long story). The newer ones were faster than the older one.

The stutter you refer is software related and has nothing to do with the hardware so why would you upgrade? The camera is a slight Improvement as far as low light is concerned, and stereo speakers are not a big deal since most people use headphones. The Snapdragon 845 is just a slight improvement over the 835 so save your money and wait for the next big Samsung iteration of the Galaxy phone and this is coming from a current note 8 user. The Android Oreo update has made a huge Improvement in my devices performance and battery life.

Speakerphone quality is a big step up. Its sounds like I'm talking to someone in the same room. I don't have bluetooth in my ear 24/7, and not sure if people actually still hold phone to their heads in 2019. Then again I came from an S7. SO i get that someone with s8 would be ok waiting for bigger upgrade though. S8 and s9 very similar. Btw I briefly owned an S8 active. And while its speaker is very loud, much better than S7, it's not as clear as s9 and is kind of easy to cover up with a finger accidentally.

My note 8 has zero scratches on the front and back and I've had it since December. No screen protector on the front. I do have a thin case on it which doesn't add any thickness to it

akhil adulapuram my performance has been great. Now with the oreo update it run faster and smoother. But I also understand that everyone's experience is not the same. Everyone uses there phone differently. I constantly hear that the battery on the note 8 isn't that good but I get great battery life. And believe me I'm a heavy user. Playing music, surfing the net. Streaming video and receiving notifications constantly.

Samsung give you lots of tools to keep it running smooth with the device optimisation and auto restart settings. Also all phones should be restarted at least once a week to clear the cache and accumulated crap.

The iPhone S series, while it existed, used to retain the same design, but had way more significant improvements than this. This is S8 with slightly better camera and a higher price by about $300. S8 compared to the S7 was worth the upgrade. This? Nope.

If it was me, I would go all out and buy the S9. I would be guaranteed at least 2 years of OS updates and at least 3 in security updates. I have a regular S7. I would have to come to realization though that Samsung has curved glass phones and that's it. No flat glass phones like my S7 for a premium flagship phone.

Nick Can you please figure out how to assign specific ringtones and notification tones to individual contacts on the S9+!?! B. s9 has great amazing features it has the infinite display and the phone all around looks good but in terms of updates samsung is notorious for having major late update as too the pixel 2 getting it earlier also sam phones are known to slow down keep in mind it's not everyone that will experience this because it has to do with the amount of this you hv on your phone on the other hand I phone has a basic but good looking phone and it want have all these features but will serve you in the long run you probably know all of this but hope it helps you decide and remember both are great phones and what ever you pick am sure you will be happy with it.

@@oa3452 Im actually very impressed to be honest the performance is very good even on the battery saving mode that i mostly use the battery is good i cant really tell cause the phone is 1 year old yeah i bought a used one so its okay i use battery power saving mode cause i have a job outside in the direct sunlight and it makes the brightness go to full but with the power saving mode it helps a bit. During the home usage (watching youtube, playing music in bg, twitch, facebook) its really good my battery can last a long time even tho some of my friends told me that their s8 drains the battery very quickly i think its because of too much apps running in the background or not using the auto brightness option so the phone can adjust its brightness accordingly.. The camera is great there are many options for it you can manual focus slow motion and with the newest software update you get ar emojis and super slow mo which are very cool. The battery sometimes drains a lot for me too but that is because i have a very low signal at my work and my mobile data is on most of the time but i never got to 0% the lowest i got was 20 if i remember right.. Anyways im really impressed with the phone and for 400e i would recommend it to anyone. Hope i helped you out and good luck!

And yes whatever you do do not charge your phone overnight i realised that the phone holds a better charge if you charge it beforehand and unplug it when you go ti sleep rather than keeping it plugged in.. And yes i miss the s4 especially for its ir sensor as i would troll people and turn off their tvs 😂😂
