you can't take damage while dealing damage, enemies don't have s (except black Knight), and you can swing faster in the air. so basically it's just a matter of precise button mashing

+NinetyNineNo There's a little trick where you shovel just as you hit the ground, then jump again, shovel and shovel once more. So that's 3 shovel hits within about 1/2 a second, but it's a bit hard to pull off consecutively.
