Really enjoyed that Sandy, fantastic message also. The kick up the arse certainly comes in handy at times! Looked very cosy in the shelter, nice to see the deciduous trees from the drones point of view also. Take care mate and hope life is well.

Hi Mike, Having the ability to "Kick one's self up the arse" can be very beneficial and sometimes the best help comes from within! Yes the deciduous trees have all but lost their leaves now. I was in Sweden (Nr Idre) a few years ago. I have a friend who lives there. It sure was a beautiful place. The extensive forest, the lichens and the mosses, the peace tranquility just out standing. You'll have to invite me and Lee over for a for a get together at some point! Hope the long dark winter nights are not too bad? Just think of the long summer days ahead. It's all good! Sandy

Thank you so much for covering this, for my wife and myself this is the most important subject there is, in a few months we will be married 50 years. we were 18 years old when we married, at 20 are baby Adam died from spinal meningitis, we started spending more time outdoors camping, we got through what we thought was the worst time in are lives. Then our second son Chris took his own life he was 22 years old. Mental Health is very fragile. I have always spent my life camping and hiking. but after Chris's passing my wife and I lost our selves in the back country it has helped the two of us get through life and has healed us over the last 24 years. watch your loved ones and friends for any signs of deep depression, it can save your life as well theirs.

Hi Greg, Thanks for sharing this . I am finding it hard to understand just what you and your wife have been through. It must have been just terrible. Gut wrenching! Sometimes words aren't enough and thats all that most of us can offer, but nature and time does offer an unspeakable healing thats for sure. Many thanks and best wishes Sandy

Great video Sandy. Started watching it expecting 26 minutes of purely camping and cooking. Instead found some truly inspirational and touching reflection from yourself. Hearing what you have gone through would have been enough to break a lot of people, to hear how you deal with everything life can throw at you with the simple mantra of living in the moment and giving yourself a “kick up the arse” is brilliant. Keep them coming, really enjoy your content.

Wonderful video, Sandy! I really liked what you had to say about making ourselves turn around from going down the downward spiral of despair, and about living in the present moment. I realized a number of years ago that the quote attributed to John Lennon (although apparently he didn't originally come up with it) is very true: "Life's what happens while you're busy making other plans." I still don't always do the best of living in the present moment, but it's always something to strive for improving upon.

Sandy the Flying Philosopher rides again ... Agree with so much of what you said there. I have always tried to take the negatives and use them as a means to underline and highlight the positives, no matter how small . Cold fosters appreciation for the warmth . Discomfort engenders appreciation for comfort. Hunger enables appreciation for its satiation . I'm not rich , but manage to pay my way with a bit left over to share with others who are worse off. Above all , feel the cold, feed the hunger, breathe in and breathe out... it always adds up to there are plenty of poor buggers can't, so , as long as I can it's a good day, again ... Keep on Sandy.
