Now I could be wrong, but I believe I understand why the defendant won. The defendant let the plaintiff know she wanted out and that she was willing to sell the plaintiff her 1/2 of the business. All the plaintiff had to do was access the current value of the company and send an official offer to the defendant. When the Defendant “stole” the items, she was still part owner of the company so she basically moved her own items and so JM “divided up” what’s was left since it wasn’t half, which the plaintiff confirmed. The apartment is a non-issue because the lease ended and the Plaintiff obviously wasn’t charged anything for it or she would’ve added that to her suit. Whatever license thing the Plaintiff was relying on saying the Defendant wasn’t a legal owner of the company anymore was probably done illegally (like ignorant of the law kind) and that’s why Judge Mathis didn’t go into it.

I agree with the judge for this ruling. The plaintiff confirmed that ownership is 50/50 and confirmed that the items she has left in the business was more than $5000 so the defendant left with less than half of their ownership. She offered to buy her out, if her name was removed from the lease. The kease expired and she never told her an amount. Her claim was dropped and because the defendant left with less than 50% of the dissolved business she owes her
@diamondz4lfye3132 жыл бұрын
I don’t know why some in the comment section disagree with judgement. The defendant had invested in the business (50%) so rightfully so, the plaintiff has to buy her out. Doesn’t matter if she quit, she still deserve her buyout/return and if not she’s still part owner.
@kristinzotoyi69252 жыл бұрын
She may be part owner but her buyout was set and determined while she was in court and he made it very clear so even the defendent knew. My personal feeling was that no one should have gotten any money because the defendant essentially took items out of the business that equaled more than the buy out and the plaintiff essentially thru loosing inventory settled the amount owed. First of all, the ruling amount was incorrect based on what he asked the defendant. When the plaintiff said the items she had were worth way more than 5k, but she didn’t know how much, he turned and asked the defendant how much she WANTED for them and she said $3k… during the ruling, he said the defendant said the plaintiff’s possessions were worth 3k, thus splitting that in half (on top of the buyout money). What an odd case. Nothing about them was entertaining so the slang and not being organized doesn’t get you anywhere. If you feel you are owed something and have enough evidence to win a case, use it. Imagine they went to their local court acting like that?! Just because this court is on tv, doesn’t mean you get to act like a buffoon. Unfortunately, the defendant was no better but that’s business. Don’t get mad when you don’t know your rights.

@@kaylee3867 I think so. To be smart enough to start a business that young is admirable. Many creatives make terrible business ppl, tho. Lol Funny enough I want to be a judge when I was kid. I probably would have been a calmer Mathis. Smh

I don't agree with the decision in this case. Azana abandoned the business via text message, stole from it, and then sued the business partner for money. #Trifling. The agreement was that Cyan would provide Azana half the money for the business, only on one condition. The condition was that Azana would remove Cyan off the lease. Contract was breached when Azana didn't execute the terms. Even though the lease dissolved later, the agreement was never executed by Azana. Judge should have awarded Cyan for the stolen items. Azana should have left the courtroom disappointed.

Agree 100% I think the judge misunderstood which is why he kept saying “u didn’t give her the payout amount cause u couldn’t find her”? Azana knew well enough what the original agreement was. I wouldn’t have given her the amount either.

The defendant was annoying to me, not letting the plaintiff speak; the plaintiff, I don’t believe explained things well. But that happens and sometimes, unfortunately, doesn’t end in the person that’s not explaining well, favor.

Let me tell you. I'm a stripper of 20 years (retiring next month). There's girls at the bar I work at that literally have half their teeth... Top half of the top and bottom half of the bottom, and the breath to go along with it. Every girl there has sugar daddies, even that one. Size, shape, color, smell, age (in my case)... Doesn't matter, we all have our guys.
