For me, the transition to Marley in this episode wasn’t actually that jarring, but only because I realized wat I was watching: The most effective anti-war fantasy ever. For 3 seasons, we were tricked into believing that we had found a 100% justified war. What war could be more righteous than fighting such grotesque and monstrous creatures? But then, through the eyes of Falco, we see it has been a world much like ours. Titans are just symbols of man’s inhumanity to man. More than ever, I saw how inhumane and monstrous it is to choose war… but it just keeps happening.
