Mr Khal IS just quality! I had to giggle at the free walk comments because he was so clearly eyeing the ground "Oooh, could drag my nose through that bit...or through that bit..." He is just so beyond cute. Thanks for the video and I'm glad to see you out of that hotel room and in what looks like quite a nice house/flat.

Some suggestions that come to my mind: This is a horse with rather short movements at the trot and canter. For dressage bring down the cadence a bit. A tad calmer. The aim in dressage is to lengthen the movement in the extension and shorten them in the collection. Now horses with those short movements tend to rush if you just ride them forwards. If you want a lengthening of the stride, you have to keep the cadence lower with your seat and encourage lengthening of the stride and more push off with the hind legs while keeping that calmer cadence. That lower cadence will also go miles later when you work on real collection. Right now he rushes. About the head/neck position, try to encourage him to stretch himself forward and in the long and low downwards more. Restrict him less, he needs to learn self carriage while he can stretch into the contact.

Holly. Any yard would and should be happy to let you ride. Someone on the practice client list will give you the chance to show what your capable of. Thats the great thing about the horse world. There is always an opportunity. And if an opportunity to ride racehorses comes your way , take it.

It's so nice to see you settled in Australia. As I also come from jumping background, when I see a dressage working canter, it almost looks like a four beat canter because it's SO SLOW. But it must take so much strength and suppleness from the horse to maintain such a slow canter. Congratulations on such wonderful scores and placements. Especially since you learned the test right before performing it!😂😂❤

Is it normal for jumpers to have their heel turned in/toe pointing outward versus parallel to the horse’s side? Just curious. Love learning from all the disciplines!
@iimdone4 жыл бұрын
yes very much! i dont really jump much, i just do flatwork as im still an amateur rider, but i ride in a jump saddle and learn more about keeping an open hip and knee rather than staying parallel and potentially pinching with my knees. im sure it also aids in something with the jumping position but i cant recall.
