Same thing happened with me. I went to meet a girl for marriage in Mumbai in Feb 2020. I used to stay in Malaysia back then. Corona was slowly picking up but nobody knew it would get so horrible. My father repeatedly asked me to come home and stay with family for a few days. I tried to convince him that if I come now I won't be able to come home on Diwali. He persisted but I put my stand firmly. I went back to Malaysia and then one day in November 2020 (3 days after Diwali), he passed away due to heart attack. I wanted to go back on Diwali but the international borders were sealed so I couldn't. It took me 4 days and innumerable efforts to fly back to India. I couldn't even perform his last rites while he had always been there with me. I quit my job in Malaysia in next 6 months and moved back to stay with my mother. Now, everything is okay but I still blame myself for my father's death. I wish I had gone to him when he was calling. The guilt would always be there like a knife in gut.
