@@troyharrell622 Steve Hall died of natural causes in December 2018. I think his videos are getting a lot more viewership recently -- maybe because more people are cooking at home right now, due to the pandemic. A lot of new viewers (including me) were shocked to find out that Steve passed away before we ever saw an episode.

Actually searched "shrimp fried rice in a wok" and landed here. Been a while since I watched any of Steve's videos. Makes me sad to know he'll never prepare another delicious dish for me to mimic. RIP brother. Got to get the wok out of storage - been there since Snowmageddon here in South Texas this past February - we moved out of our previous home into our home in the country.

I make mine the same way..I even use the frozen peas and carrots combo..good to know I'm following in the same footsteps as him..I mostly use velveted chicken..and he got it right..I do the same sauce combo..I occasionally use the fruit juices. I never thought about bean sprouts but I have used bamboo shoots and water chestnuts..

I get frustrated with the frozen shrimp options - so many already contain salt. Important to look at the ingredients before adding additional salt. But the shrimp that taste the best are the ones that do not have salt added. I think Aldi has pretty good frozen shrimp and it's sustainable. Fresh is good if it can be gotten from a local fish market.

I just used a bit more reg soy. Do you use ginger in your fried rice sometime ? I’ve used the canned bean sprouts. I just drained them . Yours might be better though

Sounds good, been looking for a fried Rice recipe....don't like bean sprouts what else can I use instead of that ? I had no idea he was your husband Sheila.....I kinda thought you might be his GF.....I used to watch Ralph Emory all the time....I loved that show.....would not miss it.....and loved the Shot Gun Red part..... I always wondered what he looked like and now I know..... did not realize he was in Country Music..... Was there music to buy, Records, tapes, Cd's , etc..... What are some songs he did ? Love the big nice boat he purchased for your birthday Sheila it is beautiful ....do you still use it ? That was some boat.....So sorry to hear he had passed away.....I did not know it until I saw a video and it mentioned that he had.....hope you're doing ok.....love still seeing his videos.....I made his pickled eggs, his recipe was similar to mine.....I add onion , garlic, hot pepper seeds to mine, don't remember if he did too.... I use a jar of pickled sliced beets, and I slice my onions up and then turn the jar over several times....and put in fridge for a couple of days then ready to eat....then I turn jar upside down and set it on a saucer....in fridge in case it leaked....(never has) and the next day I turn it over and usually do this as long as I keep them in fridge.....I only keep them about 2 wks, but I have heard they will keep a month or so, but I just can't seem to want to eat them after a couple of weeks....I think I can get 10 large eggs in a big mouth quart jar.....I add my eggs and then pour the beet mixture over them and shake the jar very carefully.....a few times and I usually do this every time I get one out to eat....keeps the beet juice mixed up well.I just made some couple of weeks ago...just poured out the beet juice the other day.....they are very good.....but I mashed my yolks and add mayo, etc what ever else you want with the mashed up egg yolk and then put the mixture back on the egg....as I do not like chunks of egg yolk....kinda like a deviled egg.....that's the way I eat them.....very good.....the eggs look pretty to slice them and put layer of lettuce on a platter, spread potato salad on top and then slice the eggs and put on top of the potato salad, so pretty and very good.....and sprinkle with paprika....when I do it this way, I only eat the egg white ....not the chuck of yolk....LOL.....I am not an egg fan at all, but I will eat pickled eggs, occasionally make an omelette, or scramble an egg.....end of my story.....thanks for still showing Shotgun Reds Videos Sheila.....I have some catching up to do.....

Surprised you could find the exotic condiments, but the bean sprouts were hard to find. I am used to these fresh in bulk in supermarkets, not in packages. Pretty essential in common Asian dishes. Not good raw, but are easily over cooked.
