I am originally from La but have lived away since 1970. Having lived in 7 different states, I have collected many recipes from many different people. Some are on recipe cards, some on a scrap of paper , but I have kept the original one and am in the process of having them copied in order to make a quilt with them. Most of them have that person’s name in their own handwriting. My mother passed away in 1990 after having worked for the state of La. Evidently they passed around a lot of recipes that she would send me ( she was not a cook or baker). My 2 granddaughters have gotten a kick out of seeing her recipe and handwriting. I have partial letters from my husbands mother and grandmother that are really fragile at this point. Just love these pieces of memories! Thanks for the new recipe for shrimp.

I did this recipe tonight with chicken instead of shrimp. My wife has an allergy to shrimp. My 17 year old son can be picky but while he was scarfing it down he said what is in this. Then he said I give that a 9 out of 10! Me and the wife looked at each other with a big ole grin. It was a 9 out of 10 because there wasn't anymore left. 😂

I have been compiling a recipe book for my 2 granddaughters. I did the same for their father (my son) when he got his first apartment. I treasure all of the handwritten recipes I have received over the years, so if I think they'd like it, I copy those recipes OR I ask the original recipe giver to write it out again to include in the book. My 95 year old mother just sent me two handwritten copies of her Sloppy Joe recipe (famous throughout the family and friends who have ever tasted it). It was served at my wedding reception, and again at my 25 wedding anniversary! 😅 I guess I'd best send it to you, too, when I find out how to do this. 😊 by the way ... the original recipe size was enough to fill a huge electric cooker, as she made it for her employees at celebrations at work. It's been reduced in size through the years, thankfully! But it does freeze well.

You’re absolutely right Tom. The breaded tenderloin recipe I sent you actually came from my stepdad’s sisters. We’re all originally from Indiana and we love our breaded tenderloin sandwiches. I moved to Kentucky in 1979 and on one of my visits back to Indiana to see my family I told my step aunts that you couldn’t get the breaded tenderloin here. They immediately rattled off the recipe. They’re delicious and I hope you fix them for you and Melissa. They go great with potato salad or French fries. My stepdad and all 3 of his sisters have passed on. They are loved and missed. This is a very delicious looking dish. I love your subscriber Sundays. 🙏🏻🙏🏻

I cook my onions in the microwave and then put them in the frying pan with butter for a minute or so. They keep their plumpness. Also, to me it seems they take forever to cook if you don’t. I would also sauté the mushrooms with the onions and garlic. I might even go crazy and use fresh mushrooms. I think this could drastically change the taste of the dish, but couldn’t hurt. I will definitely try this. Thank you.

Same here, I love shrimp. My mother would tell me a story about when I was very young, I went to a preschool type thing a few days a week. Preschool wasn't required back then in the early 60's. My grandfather would pick me up, my mom didn't drive, and take me to lunch before he had to go into work. He took me to Kip's Big Boy and ordered a fried shrimp meal to share with me, thinking he'd have a good lunch and I'd eat a few shrimp and some fries. I must've been 3.5 to 4. Mom said I ate almost all the shrimp lol, my grandfather always laughed about him not having much of a lunch on that day.

When my mother died, I inherited her recipe books & boxes. I asked family members which recipes they wanted. If they were on cards & in her handwriting, I scanned the cards. The book became a PDF on full sheets of 8.5"x11" paper that each person could print for themselves. Several of her grandchildren expressed their appreciation that most of the recipes were in Maw-maw's handwriting.

I am from Louisiana. I now am retired and living in Florida. I really miss my Fresh Louisiana Shrimp. I have found that if my by frozen, pealed, devained, tail off. I buy raw. Season them with Louisiana seasoning and fry down in butter, they are good in any Louisiana dish. But the secret is to sauté with seasoning before putting in your dish of choice.

it's awesome that the recipe was found Jan. I have my granny's recipe for strawberry fig preserves and want to make it SO! bad but cant find figs here in NC. So I bought a fig tree and planted year b4 last so hoping this year it will produce enough for just ONE jar even. We used to go to Ga every year and strip tobacco and one of the things we did was can massive amounts of figs. We had to use a ladder in the back of a truck to pick the figs the trees were so large lol. I cant eat shrimp but maybe will try subbing tofu or chicken.

I had three mature fig trees in the yard when I purchased my home. They produced an unbelievable amount of figs for 10 years. One day I noticed they had stopped producing fruit. The next week they uprooted themselves completely. Very easy to have removed.😊
