If you want to add co2 then you can fill up a plastic bottle with 3 tablespoons of tablesugar, one packet of bread yeast, and then fill up your bottle 3/4 of the way up. After that you can drill a hole in the cap so you can put a airtube through it, glue it onto the screw cap and put the other side of the tube in your aquarium with a airstone and there you go, DIY co2 system.
@ShrimpMania Жыл бұрын
Appreciate your tip buddy!

How many grams should a packet of yeast be? Thanks
@G-boi Жыл бұрын
@@VISShrimpPassion That would be 7 grams.
@bigdevil73 Жыл бұрын
For bread yeast co2 generator you absolutely need water filter between switch. small coke bottle 0.5l or 1l in lid 2 holes hose from yeast generator goes to the ground, second hose only briefly through cape. fill the bottle up to 50% with water. the water will filter the co2 and prevent yeast from penetrating the aquarium. cola bottle hold pressure much better than other manufacturers.
@karlgreen143 Жыл бұрын
Just be careful though. I tried it before and it killed my precious fishes, just put some timer or something to check the co2 level in the aquarium.

For the algae maybe try, 1. dimming lights 10-20 percent and or less light time. 2. cap off your aqua soil with sand or carpeting plant, it’ll lock in the nutrients and help prevent leaching minerals into your water column 3. Try lowering your temperature, if your at 80, try 79 or 78 I think this would knock it back for sure but knocking it out 100 % is always a challenge

Some stuff of note - you cant really clean under gravel filters, ever without tearing the tank down. Also you're pulling water through substrate that has plant food in it so its pushing that into your water which is probably why you have so much algae.
@ShrimpMania Жыл бұрын
Yea you're right the soil releases a lot of nutrients into the water column, in the beginning, causing algae to grow. I know I can clean UGF but the point of changing it is that the old soil is losing all its juice and need to be replaced.

I'll have to do what you do and siphon them out. I love sl aqua's magic powder, been using the aqualex version, enzyme powder, i think it's doing something or maybe a plecebo effect. great video as always and can't wait till the next one!

one last question, which mic are you using? your audio is so clear without the bubbling sound in the background!!
@ShrimpMania Жыл бұрын
@@RWAquariumPages Hi Ray. The blue/green algae can be cyanobacteria. It can be trated with blackouts for a few days. Fo ugf you can either do it with partition, box or full tank size i don't think its another option. I'm using rode wifi mic for shots with myself and rode shotgun when I talk behind the camera. This one is very clear because I talk few inches away and it has some fluff on it.

What species of caridina shrimp would you recommend for someone who never had them before? I'm going to use amazonia light, ro water and gh+. Also what size of a tank should I choose? I'm thinking about 20-30 gallons to keep water more stable and to allow bigger colony with less maintenance. I have neocardina shrimps in 10g aquariums and I could only get 100-300 shrimps from each tank with dayly feeding and 10% water change to keep water clean. Too much work... now I'm switching to 30-40 gallons for neocardina to give them more room. Should I get bigger tank for caridina shrimps as well?
