I never watched this drama first time round, I was always in the pub. I started watching the latest series 5 out of curiosity because of a love of Scotland, and have been hooked straight away on this wonderful TV show. Thank you for uploading these old episodes :)

I am thankful for all of the time, effort and careful thought that goes into the selections you post for us--but I particularly adore this show. It ticks all the boxes for me. Cheers, Nicholas. Such a beautiful series. I saw it on telly a while ago, loved it, and longed for the next series.....that just hasn't arrived. :( I long for more of these wonderfully moody and complicated characters, everything understated and buried. Such a thought-provoking show, and the scenery is *breath-taking*. . I especially like how the crimes seem to truly matter to the detectives, nothing is glib or off-handed like in American crime shows. It is full of cleverness and sensitivity.

Kathyn Ash Depends on the American crime show. Some are quite good. But I have fallen in love with Shetland. It's at the top of my list right now, and I was happy to find out that they have commissioned a fifth season.

Shetland's f a r from being my favourite British mystery production. N American creativity is edged out by almighty yet limp media corporateers..their radio output are fucking godawful, for instance.. .. . .

@@trainrover Generalizations are always dangerous. YOu are putting down radio output in North America. I am constantly amazed by the terrific radio programs that are on pubic radio in the US. Not just national broadcasts, but many regional broadcasters are doing very interesting things in their area of the country--cultural programming, music, investigative news pieces. I'm sure the same is the case in Canada--given that your drive-by of "N. America" threw both countries under the bus. You can find awful programs all over the radio. But I have found so much gold, especially on public radio, that I had to respond. There is just a ton of great stuff on the radio in N. America.

Shtlnd 2:06 -- I had a chuckle when at at 30:42, Perez says he needs to see Donny (who caught the two lads together) for some"straight answers". So "punny"!

Thanks for posting this series! It's very much appreciated. Hoping perhaps you may consider posting the 3rd installment?I'm a big fan of British drama from California. BTW, Douglas Henshal really needs to be seen more often !
